Did Tinkerbell's Wire get Zapped?

Tonight (January 10) just before dark, the largest crane we have ever seen towered above Cinderella's Castle in the Magic Kingdom, while a worker appeared to be welding something right where Tinkerbell's cable emerges from the top of the Castle. There were thunderstorms this afternoon, so we immediately wondered if perhaps the cable had been struck by lightning, and a VERY large crane was called in to fix it.

Nonetheless, Wishes went off right on time, at 8:00 tonight, and Tink floated through the sky, with no crane in sight.

Would Robo or one of the other Dis employees give us an insight as to what happened?

As my wife said as we waited for the fireworks to begin, "I wonder if they told Tinkerbell when she showed up for work that her wire had been hit by lightning? Oh, and have a nice flight....."

There are always thunderstorms in Florida.

I don't know why a crane was at the castle today, but I imagine they are regularly doing inspections and adjustments. The crane may have also been a part of the removal of Christmas lights (again, I wasn't there today so I can't say for sure).

Probably nothing more than taking down the castle lights.

i thought i read somewhere that they were removing christmas lights from the castle????

but wouldn't they have done that already?

It wasn't Christmas Light removal -- not at leat with welding going on. And we can't imagine them doing it while the Park is open anyway.

I don't understand.... Tinkerbell's wire?

:tink: :tinker: :tink: Please don't tell me Tinkerbell uses a wire. :tink: :tinker: :tink:

I believe..... I really do believe.... I will clap the loudest for you Tink...

Of course not, it's Cinderella's clothesline... :rolleyes1

I agree with nytimez. The crane is there anyway to remove the lights, probably taking advantage of using it for regular maintenance while it's there.

Yeah, it seems like they wouldn't be able to get a crane there spontaneously right after a thunderstorm. This was probably planned.

I thought it was Charming's cable hookup. Probably wanted to get it fixed before tonight's game.

He probably did. Can't miss a second of the Oregon/Auburn game. Of course it is Cinderella's clothesline when she needs it.

I was at MK today. The crane was there all day and did not drive up after the storm. In fact I think it's been there a few days now. They are probably removing the lights and doing minor January refurbs.

How in the heck would they get a huge crane into MK while the park was open? It had to have been there already.

As other have stated, they just can't call Bob's Cranes and have one setup that quickly.

The crane was already there removing the castle lights. If they started Monday the 3rd and it takes two weeks to put up I could imagine it would take at least a week to remove them.

They were probably just doing planed refurb work.

If lighting did hit the wire, I would imagine, because if safety issues, it would require more than just a quick look over and some welding. Even if it was something really small, it require someone like a structural engineer to be involved.

It was likely removal of the Christmas lights -we watched them being put on in August and were surprised with the size of the crane. It does lookly interesting to look at our pictures and see a crane behind the Castle. And yes we still got them cause it was something unique and different. We even ask the photopass person to take some funny shots for us

I believe!! I believe!!

Just saw tinkerbell's flight for the first time this year - (as the mother of teens - I won't say how old). It was amazing!!!
