We are still here at WDW. We arrived on the 17th and we have eaten at alot of good meals.

O`hanas, GFC, LTT, LeCellier, Tony`s, Beachs and Cream, and we will be trying Coral Reef, Kona, CP, H & V yet this week.

So far Tony`s is the only one we did not like. It was partly service, attitudes and the food to make for a totally unenjoyable meal.

We arrived early like we had at a few places and were told that we were early (which I had told her when I gave her our name) and she said I can`t check you in until your reservation time. So we went outside to wait until the exact time.

When I went in to check us in they waited outside and she asked if we were all there. I said yes and she pointedly looks all around me and gives me that look like I don`t see anyone with you. I said they are outside waiting.

She said well before we check you in we like everyone to be in our lobby waiting. One of the kids wandered in so I had him go get everyone.

She checked us in and we went to wait. We were about 10 mins early still. We listened as people checked in and heard them tell people that it`s 6:39 and your ADR is at 6:50 and we will only call you in in order of reservations. I couldn`t believe they were complaining about being 11 mins early.

Then we sat there and sat there.

Once we get inside the server came over and asked if we were on the dining plan. We said yes. He said he needed to see one of the cards or 2 cards if we had 2 rooms. Then checked to see how many adults and kids it had. I found that rude. There was no reason for that. He could of asked ages, or anything like that. He didn`t need to make us bring out our cards in my eyes.

Then my son asked what the soup of the day was. He replied that I will get to that in good time. Then proceeded to tell us his name, and that he would be serving us. He told us the soup of the day and what he considered his favorite meals.

Then we ordered drinks. Service was slow. All the tables around us had their bread before we even had drinks even though we were there before each one.

But once the food came it was fast. We had just started our appies when they brought out the main course and took the appies away. Dh put his appie on his main course so he could eat it still.

Then once that was done it slowed down again and we waited for the server to have time.

He was busy clearing tables, and resetting tables instead of bringing dessert or seeing if we had drinks or were enjoying the meal.

Over all our worst experience so far !

Sorry you had a bad experience at Tony's. We've always enjoyed it (except once when one of our kids got sick). We've always had great servers. However, we do prefer the lunchtime meals rather than dinner--not as much food and less rushed feeling. Hope you enjoy the rest of your stay and meals.

Tony's was an overall good meal for us not the best -we did enjoy the birthday salute they did for our baby,- and they girls and I got in trouble for trying to see Spectromagic, told we had to stay in our seats.
I had the tomato mozzarella salad- lots of tomatoes just a few bits of cheese, steak was good, as were the potatoes, dessert was the chocolate bomb it was OK.
Dh had the cake -it was HUGE probably a quarter of the cake! He also had the calimari, was good, but I can't remember his entree!

Wow... this sounds like the complete opposite experience we had at Tony's in June '07. We waited a short while, but found the waiter to be very attentive and the food to be first rate. Its certainly not our favorite dining experience on property, but usually gets a visit from us whenever we go to WDW.

Sorry about your bad experience but what did you order and how was the food?

We will be eating there for the first time in a month or so, on a P&PP night. A couple we will be with that night have eaten at Tony's and did not care much for it. They said too much garlic. That sounded GOOD to DH and I. :rotfl2:
It should be interesting, considering the lukewarm reviews Tony's gets here.

We have always loved Tony's, but when we were there earlier this month, we had almost the same experience the OP had. The service was terrible and the food was just so-so. We always eat at Tony's at night and then we eat lunch there on the day we leave. Not this time. My DH was so disappointed in the meal and service that he refused to eat our "last meal" there.

We had a similiar experience with the rude check in and a rude server!! We never did get more drinks (we needed water for goodness ssakes!) We had it on our ressies it was our Anniversary - I have gotten cards in the past, and it was esp important to us because of Lady and the Tramp helped us get through our college years apart!!

We waited 18 min from when they seated us to when they took our order (you can tell because when you check in you get a ticket, the server takes the ticket when they get your drink orders!)

Then when we got our order - it was wrong!! (the steak was to come with a sauce, ours didnt!) Never saw our server again - tried to find out if the server was new, but the manager told us we were on the DDP so what did we want? :confused3

Sorry to hear about your bad experience. When both the host/hostess and the wait person are abrupt, it is hard to overlook.

it really does taint the whole experience when you are treated in such a way.

Sorry you had a disappointing experience and glad you chose somewhere else for your last meal

Sorry about your bad experience but what did you order and how was the food?

My Dh had the calamari and seafood pasta. He liked both.

3 of the kids had spagetti and meatballs and they did not like it. They thought the sauce was weird and the meat balls tasted funny they said. One had the salad for appie and didn't care for the dressing, one had spinach and artichoke dip and liked that, and the 3rd kid skipped appies.

I had the spinach and artichoke dip but found it kinda bland, and then had the steak with potato. Steak was good but the potato was bland.

They loved the dessert trio though lol

Now that we are home I can say this was the worst experience we had.

Sorry you had such a bad experiance with Tony's.
We ate their in Sept. and it was our best dining experiance
of our whole trip. We were also on the dining plan-
can't remember if we were asked or had to show our
room key (until after while paying)?
Good Service, Good Food and everyone was very nice!
I guess every experiance is different.
There was only 3 of us and we ate at 11:30 am Lunch-
I don't know if that made the difference-there were hardly
anyone else in the restaurant beside us.
We ate the Steak, Grilled Fish and White Pizza (all very good)
Dessert was excellent.
The Server (a lady) was so nice we left extra in the tip.
We are looking forward to eating their again on our upcoming
trip and will be making ADRs for the same time.

We ate there last trip, May 2007, and had the same experience. They couldn't find our reservation in the computer by name but had the reservation number, tried to find it on two computers, had numerous cast members trying to figure it out, none could, much to the dismay of the unfortunates waiting in line behind us. It was total chaos, it seemed no one knew what they were doing. They finally put our names on the wait, and forgot about us until finally I went to the host again 45 minutes later (now over an hour and 15 minutes after our reservation time) and they finally seated us about 15 minutes later. The server was pleasant but apps and dinners were served seconds apart. We felt very rushed during the meal after the long wait in the lobby. Overall the food was just OK and we found the whole experience lacking the usual Disney quality. We won't be back.

We had great service there, and delicious appetizers (every single one of them was incredible). The dinner itself was so-so.

We had a similar experience in May 2007. The server was horribly rude. DH asked for a refill and when he didn't have it 10 minutes later, he asked the server again. He put his hand in DH's face and said "I'm getting your tea, sir"! Absolutely unbelievable.

We'd had a good experience at lunch time in August 2006, which is why we went back. Hands down this was the worst experience I've ever had with a CM. We'll avoid it from now on.

We are sad that Tony's will be closed while we are there next week. We have been twice and both times, learned something new about the Restaruant that just made us love it even more!

We enjoyed every minute from talking to the hostess, waiter and other staff.

Our first time was with the kids, one had a spill Large Coke Spill and the staff was quick to help and get another drink. Our second was on our honeymoon, where the hostess decorated our table completely before we sat down. The waiter brought a delicious dessert. It was wonderful.

Each time we have had the spaghetti and meatballs, due to loving Lady and The Tramp.. We come from a real Italy heirtage town, where we not only cook our own sauces, but have some of the best restaurants that serve the most delicious spaghetti, and we all enjoy...

I am so sorry you had a bad time... Tony's is our family favorite.

it seems to me, as of late, everytime someone points out they got lousy service at a WDW restaurant, 9 times out of 10 it is Tony's.

I had a bad experience there as well, I know some people have great memories of Tony's, heck I have great memories from when it was the Veranda. But as of late, more and more people are having a lousy time there.

Whoa! Some of these dining experiences border on nightmarish!
For a manager to say "You're on the dining plan, what do you expect?" is so unacceptable it borders on ridiculous!
For a waiter to put is hand in your face and say "I'm getting your tea, sir!" after a 10 min wait is as bad!
I'm truly second guessing the reservation I have for lunch in April.
What recourse do you have after service like that?
My goodness!
Thank you all for posting.

Sounds like Tony's hasn't gotten any better since our horrible dinner in Dec 2006. That meal was sooooo bad that it stands out as a "remember when" story 'round our house. Needless to say, we will never-no-not-ever go there again. It was so bad even the manager had to concede they blew it and ended up not charging our DDP for the meals (and it still wasn't worth the time) Is Disney management asleep on this place or what?
