When I came back from my trip last May, I think I put some of my unused DVd-rs in my luggage.

Could they be ruin?

I had the used DVD-rs in my carry-on though.... Didn't think the others would be harmed... Was I wrong?

Should I buy new ones for my trip?

Anyone?

I'm kind of panicking seeing the amount of unused and possibly ruined DVDs I have

Why do you think they might be ruined? Is it the X-rays you're worried about?

Best bet is just to burn one and see if the data survives... Or, if you're worried about it, and thinking about the price of a 25-pack of DVD-R compared to the cost of a Disneyworld holiday, just throw them out and buy a new spindle...

DVD-R's are not effected by x-rays.

Agreed - that's why I was asking in the first place.

Interestingly, they do apparently show up as "organics" on an airport security scanner. Just the same as explosives. So if you happen to have one of those CD holders that are also a flat-panel loudspeaker, and you keep being stopped to have your cabin baggage examined at the airport, just imagine what a pile of "organics", a couple of batteries and some wires must look like on the scanner :o

Hehehehe...

Yeah I was afraid of the x-rays ;)

Now I'm happy...

It'll be my first time during the Holidays... so I'll bring lotsa DVDs.... Thanfully they are 8cm so they fit nicely in my carry-on
