Here are a few of my Oscar thoughts - I fell asleep around 10:40.

Steve Martin - I thought he was kind of mean and my feeling was that the celebs didn't think he was too funny either.

J.Lo - hated that dress, didn't do a thing for her.

Colin Ferrell (sp?) - Did he say something snide back to Steve Martin after he was introduced? I didn't quite catch it.

The Best Costume Design winner - my goodness her dress was hideous!

Make-up category - Why only two nominees? Don't all the movies use make-up?

Did anyone say anything positive to our armed forces overseas - such as god bless you, keep safe, thank-you? Anything??

i thought steve martin was pretty funny. :)

i agree about jlo's dress.

yes, many people said positive things about the troops. :)

Thought Steve Martin was funny, and Michael Moore was out of hand. Please give up on the Gore 2000 Florida thing already.

J-Lo was hot as usual. Pretty boring as most award shows are.

Steve Martin cracked me up and it takes alot to make me laugh nowadays!

I think I've heard the Michael Moore speech more times than the "You Like Me" Sally Field speech now...

J-Lo looked understated, I think she is not trying to shock as much as she used to.

I fell asleep on the rest, too, so I had to watch the news to see who won!

I read in this morning's newspaper that JLo bought her dress from an auction of Jackie Onassis' clothing.

HATED IT!

Once Michael Moore won, I KNEW he was going to say something out of line (that's what he's known for). He is right to his opinions, and I know this was an ideal forum for him, but...As has been pointed out before, while these celebs can express their opinions, how many of them actually have a real background in foreign policy? I'd rather hear what ANY of our presidents (past or president) have to say...these are the men who KNOW the facts.

And JLo...oh...that dress...yes, it was understated for her, but you could clearly see her breasts.

Steve Martin was pretty good. And from the sound bite I heard (there was NO way I was making it to the end), Adrian Brody had a great speech.

I thought some of SM was funny, I thought he ragged on Mickey Rooney too much. Just thought that was disrespectful.

I think JLo is trying to tone down for Ben!

Nobody has any take on the Colin Ferrell thing - (sorry I don't know how to spell his name)

What did Colin do? I saw a bit of his thing but I don't remember anything about it....

Yes. Adrian Brody talked about if you believe in God or Allah, we hope this war comes to an end quickly. He also talked about a friend in the army. It was quite nice. They started to play music to get him off the stage and he made them stop so he could say something.

A&H's mom: As soon as M. Moores name was read I told my DH to get ready....I knew he would say something. My DH is from Flint, too! I admire how M.Moore goes after people, and he has a right to his opinion. I just feel he should have kept those comments to himself last night.

J.Lo....exactly what I was thinking, trying to tone it down for Ben.
He looked quite like "white bread" to me. So bland.

Oh yeah! I liked that kiss Adrian planted on Halle Berry when he won!

Lisajl

Personally, I thought it was extremely rude of Adrian Brody to grab Halle Berry and plant a long kiss on her. He got away with it and can blame it on the heat of the moment, but she looked none too pleased, being manhandled like that. Just my .02

I missed the kiss part but in the picture doesn't look like she is fighting back - lol!

Collin seemed to say something snide to Steve Martin after he introduced him but I didn't catch it. CF seems extremely arrogant, I've never seen him act in anything.

I gave UP when I saw Catherine Zeta Jones/Michael Douglas's Baby maker win! Boy does she have a BROAD BACK!! Does she carry her children there, cause you could barely see her belly, but when she turned around you saw nothing but BACK!

I never understood why Zeta-Jones was married to a man so much older than she. I was surprised to see she could sing and dance too! I didn't notice her back, but instead was drawn to her beautiful face. I guess it was the radiance of pregancy.

to Adrian Brody's speech...

Heard on the radio this AM that the parents of his friend who is in Iraq, were NOT watching the Oscars. Someone started pounding on their apartment door saying that their son's name had been announced on tv. Initially there were freaked (who can blame them with the war!), but when they found out it was Adrian at the Oscars, they were extremely touched.

They started to play music to get him off the stage and he made them stop so he could say something.

This isn't about Brody's speech, as I still haven't heard it, or read it. I did hear it was really nice though.

As for the music playing to get him to stop... every year the Academy says there is a time limit on speeches. Every year they fail to enforce it. Someone always makes a long speech, the music plays and the person either holds up his hand to stop the music (like Brody) or talks over the music until they are done. Why don't they just do away with the time limit if they aren't going to ever enforce it?

...(correct spelling) - Steve Martin said that next stop for CF is rehab and when CF came out he said "I was going to say you're right Steve, but that would be a lie". He also said 'go raibh míle maith agat, agus anois U2' - this means 'thank you very much, and now U2'.

I thought they controlled the speeches pretty well this year. The mic literally went down into the floor as the music played.
