I had reservations at the AKL for next April. I had room only reservations for a standard room, but decided that I could now afford the water/pool view. So I called to have the reservations changed. I expected to have to give more of a deposit since the room costs more. The CM said that I had enough of a deposit for the 2 reservations I had ( the rate goes down in the middle of our stay) and that I did not need to leave any more of a deposit. I had only paid one night for each of the two reservations, so it seemed that I would need to leave more. When I received my confirmation letter, it shows the cost as the original standard view cost, but does say that the room is a pool view. The package totals still show the standard view costs. Have I just been upgraded for free?
Also, I asked about adding a request for a non smoking room on the reservation. She asked if it was medically required, or just a nice to have. I said it was just nice to have. The CM said that she worked in Guest Relations and that she would put it on the reservation that I wanted a non smoking room, and that when requests come from Guest Relations that they are always honored. Is there truth to this? On the confirmation letter it now says non smoking room is guaranteed.
