She put her grandson ahead of you and your baby, it's ridiculous that she has a problem with you putting your baby first.

I think she ignored your needs completely. Meningitis is a word that strikes terror into nearly everyone's heart. She should have called you to let you know what was happening rather than go near you in person. A couple of years ago my nephew had meningitis and as DH, my kids and myself had been with him a couple of days beforehand, we didn't go near anyone until we spoke to our doctor to be sure it was OK to do so.

I wouldn't miss her if she left, but am glad her grandson will be OK.

I totally agree. You absolutely did the right thing sending her home. You have nothing to feel bad about.

Geez she got paid to go home. I know I wouldn't be complaining about that.

Well call me selfish, but, yes, I do come first as well as my family. We're not talking about a little sniffle here. As another poster said the word menengitis is a word that we all are afraid of and if I don't worry about myself first, who will. If she doesn't like the way you reacted and wants to leave , let her. Had it been somethng contangious and you caught it, what would she say, "I'm sorry?" At that point sorry wouldn't help.
