Did I do the right thing?

Hello,
Just bought an qdd on of 100 points at WLV. I am so very happy, as I love this resort the best. We have 340 points at AKL and I love that resort as well, but just a little less. Anyway, I was wondering if you knowledgable DVC experts could give me your opinions if I did the right thing buying at a resort that has 15 years less time. I did buy direct from Disney cause I needed to finance some of the purchase. I have stayed at WLV many times now with my AKV points without too much hassle getting what I wanted, but I thought that I should add on to my favorite resort. I don't know why I feel so torn about this decision. My guide really thought that I should buy more AKV, what do you all think? Thanks in advance for your advice.

I think you bought what you wanted and know you would use!! As far as I am concerned, you could even consider selling and re-buying, if you will get the best use of your points that way.

They are your points, and if you want to book WVL without the hassle, don't worry about it!
:thumbsup2

I would not worry about something that won't come in to play for 32 years!! The only reason that buying at AKV would make more sense is if you knew you wanted to be able to book there with all your points at the 11 month mark.

Since you will have two different resorts, you can't combine the points until 7 months, but if you bought them so you can stay there at time and still get the 11 month window with those 100 points (more if you bank and borrow).

If that is where you want to own, I say you made the right decision!

We bought BCV from DVC and on resale because that is where we wanted to stay as well as AKV. We love having the variety and the priority booking at both locations! ENJOY!

When VWL opened for sales, we bought a small 100 point contract to add to our OKW points. We love that resort because we love staying in Yellowstone and sometimes VWL is as close as we can get (unless our son winds up going to U of MT or U of ID - then we'll be going more often). We'll have two years worth of VWL points (and could borrow another 100 if we want to) for our next trip after the HS Grad trip next June and will probably be headed for VWL for F&W Festival or F&G Festival.

I know this may not be the most economical way to think about it, but I like to own where I want to stay. And, all DVC contracts expire so far into the future that you'll probably be Disney-ed out well before it expires. Even the contracts that expire the soonest expire in 2042, right? That's too far into the future for me care about expiration. Buy where you like, make use of your points.

Thank you all for your insight. Now I can go to sleep and dream about my new WLV points. Thank you , Thank you, I will send the paperwork out in Mon mail. I now feel much more content with my decision. YAAAAY!!!
