Did I do something wrong?

I used the tip about being first at getting to up to the top level on the Mark Twain Riverboat and knocking on the door marked "Private" just this week. They were changing CM piloter's at that time and the new CM told my group of 5 that they don't do that. When I questioned him some more the CM told us that there was a missing floorboard up in the cabin and with the liability they are not letting anyone up. The couple of times that I saw the MTR, there was no other people in the pilot cabin. Just wanted to confirm / notify other Dis'ers looking to do this if there is something I missed, did wrong?

I have always asked the CM's down below on the dock that load you on the boat! They have always been very helpful, but they take me up there, I have never just gone up myself! Hope you have better luck next time!

Strange, they were letting people up there this past weekend. We were there Oct 13-15. We didn't try for it, but saw many other families up there, at least on Friday and Saturday. Come to think of it, I did see them taking out the Columbia and docking the Mark Twain on Sunday morning. Wonder if that had something to do with it.

I followed someone's advice here and asked a CM in the holding area first. Another family tried to rush past us and go in but I told the CM at the captain's door that we asked downstairs and she let us go in since we asked first.
