Intersting article in The Register

If he did, the person on the other end of the "wire" surely needs to be fired.

Yep... flag on the play. Unnecessary slouching on the President. 15 yards and loss of rebuttal!

from the article:

Wireless technology might explain why US President George W. Bush performed better than usual in the last two presidential debates with his opponent, Senator John Kerry.

Performed better than usual in the last two debates? What are they talking about? There have only been two debates. And like Galahad said, if this was a communication device, then it backfired on him in the first debate given his performance. You't the left would want him to go back to using this device, based on his performance in the second debate. (of which we have no pictures of said device)

The Register is the national inquirer of the tech industry

That is a picture from the first debate - and if you all think he did so great why was there a thread bashing him for being such a bumbling indiot?

Also - Kerry supposedly reached in his pocket and pulled out a cheat sheet before the debate -

Finally - I would imagine there are special security matters that need to be taken with the president that can not be discussed - maybe he had on a bullet proof vest.

We don't know what was on Kerry's sheets and we don't know what was in Bush's jacket - get over it!

Wacky conspiracy theory about Bush "cheating" makes national, and international, news. Yet a few days earlier, a wacky conspiracy theory that Kerry was cheating was making its way around the internet.

Why was Bush's alleged cheating newsworthy but not Kerry's?

Maybe it's for the same reason that the Afghanistan election wasn't big news, nor was Howard's re-election in Australia (front page of London's Financial Times but buried in the U.S. press).

Also - Kerry supposedly reached in his pocket and pulled out a cheat sheet before the debate -

Actually, that one was de-bunked. Clearer pictures showed that he pulled a....gasp....INK PEN!!...from his pocket.

I think the best proof that he wasn't wired...at least not technologically...was his performance.:teeth:

also from The Register article

Note: The Register has not verified the authenticity of these images. They appear to come from a C-SPAN feed, but we cannot vouch for that.)

Does anyone bother to read articles before posting them?

Yep!

MYSTERY SOLVED: :teeth: :teeth: :teeth:
(2004-10-11) -- A forensic scientist studying photographic evidence has identified an object which caused a bump on the back of a suit jacket worn by President George Bush during his first debate with John Forbes Kerry.

"It's a spine," said the unnamed scientist. "The president's backbone, in a sense, was showing during his debate with Mr. Kerry."

Similar images of Mr. Kerry showed "no comparable spinal features."

When asked about the new evidence, Mr. Kerry said, "I had a spine when I defended this country as a young man, and I will have one again when I defend her as president of the United States."

Considering my performance in the first debate I'd be REALLY afraid if that's how he acted after being coached.

From the previously cited article at Drudge.com:
Section 5, pages 4-5 of the binding "Memorandum of Understanding" that was negotiated and agreed upon by both political campaigns states:

"No props, notes, charts, diagrams, or other writings or other tangible things may be brought into the debate by either candidate.... Each candidate must submit to the staff of the Commission prior to the debate all such paper and any pens or pencils with which a candidate may wish to take notes during the debate, and the staff or commission will place such paper, pens and pencils on the podium..."

I'm willing to bet that Kerry's intention was to write on himself and demand a fourth purple heart.

From Salon.com at the second debate:
Andy Card on Bush's bulge

The rest of the media gathered here in St. Louis may be focused like the proverbial laser beam on the latest job numbers -- the New York Times says jobs are topic "A, B and C" tonight -- but we're determined to get to the bottom of the Bush bulge.

The latest clarification, explanation or evasion -- depending on your perspective on all this --- comes from White House Chief of Staff Andy Card. We caught up with him in spin alley here, and we asked him whether Bush was wearing a wire at the last debate.

"If he was, I didn't know about it," Card said. "I have no reason to believe he was wearing a listening device at all." So what was that tell-tale lump under Bush's suit coat? "I don't even know what you're talking about. Maybe people didn't have very good eyesight." Was the president wearing a bullet-proof vest? "No, he was not, not to my knowledge." Some are speculating that he was wearing some kind of medical device, like a portable IV machine. How about that? "Not to my knowledge."

Card, the pro that he is, quickly spun the conversation to Bush-Cheney talking points. The president is "a regular guy," he said. "Maybe his suit had a little lump in it or something. I'll tell you, he was dressed for the opportunity to talk to the American people, and I am not aware of anything that was extra-ordinary in what he was wearing
