Did BOG breakfast before park opening change your touring strategy?

Hi all,

We have booked BOG breakfast at 8:25 on a day the park is scheduled to open at 9. I just wondered if this would give us an advantage to hit some of the more popular attractions in Fantasyland and I should plan on that or if that should not affect my touring? Has breakfast at BOG affected your touring strategy? Will we even be out of breakfast before 9? Thanks so much!

After I read this it did for me. This is our first FP+ experience. I thought I was going to be clever and schedule breakfast as I remembered the BOG was next to where they were building the 7D ride. I hope too many people don't figure this out. I also got an 8:25 but I am thinking that is BARELY enough time. I am trying to get an earlier time, hopefully we won't be fighting for the same spot :)

You have to remember that RD is actually before the 9:00 official opening time. Usually 10 minutes earlier. So that gives you only 25 minutes to enter, get your meals, eat, and get back to the RD area. Sorry, but I think the chance of that happening are on the south side of slim and none.

I think the advantage is there if you can get in in the first 15 minutes. But this isn't going to be a secret by any stretch. Anyone doing even the most basic research here, at easywdw.com, or any other number of planning sites is going to read about it.

Some families eat faster than others :)

I read somewhere you can order your food beforehand? If so does that speed up the process?

Either way even if we miss the 8:50 rope drop by a few minutes I am guessing we'd still be looking at ~20min wait time, much better than sprinting across the whole park and still have to wait 20-30 minutes.

Nope.

To me the breakfast does not look that appealing, and the prices seem a bit to high for what is offered.

If you think the expensive and subjectively food choices are worth it by all means - but no it's not advantageous what so ever.

...he says while trying to beat you out of that 8am reservation :)

Just kidding, We are on the dining plan. But what's $20 per person worth at WDW anyway?... about $2 anywhere else in the US. We have to keep feeding the beast (sorry, Beauty and The Beast). I get what you are saying, though.

I put my way through college working at a restaurant. One day the owners came in and said they were hiking all prices by 20%. Someone asked why and the reply was, "because we can!" It was just a busy as ever. Disney loves capitalism, just like (most) of the rest of us.

What do you mean "Get back to the RD area?" If you're eating at BOG, the "RD area" is right outside the restaurant, which is right outside the entrance to 7DMT.

You pre-order for lunch, but not for breakfast (yet, anyway).

BOG breakfast has changed our strategy a bit. Originally, we weren't planning to do 7DMT because there were other things we wanted to use our fastpasses for, and we aren't willing to wait in a long line for it since DD2 isn't tall enough to ride. We have an 8:00 BOG reservation, and if we are able to beat the RD crowd and get on one of the first trains, then we will be able to ride it now.

Then main plus for us is being able to wait for park opening inside a castle instead of outside the gates, as well as avoiding the crowds of people walking down Main Street when the park opens. :)

If a Guest wants to ride SDMT or see A&E and can snag an 8:00 AM ADR,I think the $19.99 is a great value for the Breakfast AND,basically,a front of the Line Pass to SDMT or A&E.:)

Perhaps a matter of perception. I would say the entrance to BOG and the entrance to SDMT are quite close to the rope area. But not right outside. But you still need to get out of the restaurant and at the rope before its dropped.
