The cafe that was shown was where Ian grew up, his parents took it over when he was seven, and its where he lived until we got married. A charity bought it from his parents when they retired, it was quite wierd to see it as it looks so very different... The lady, Mary, who was baking cakes and got £10,000 was a guest at our wedding, and the cancer charity is just down the road from us, they do brilliant work, so it was wonderful to see them getting something that they so deserve, I have had a few tears watching it this evening.

Aww no I didn't see it, but I bet it was lovely to watch for you.

How's everything with you?

Hi Gems, I am ok thanks, we had a meeting at the hospital today, and they have told us that unless theres is a drastic improvement in my nan in the next two weeks, she will likely need to go into a home, the most shocking thing was that they have said that it can't be a normal residential for the elderly, but more likely for the mentally ill, to say I felt like I had been punched is an understatement, but I am trying to keep positive, I have no idea on the procedures or of care homes, so its like a whole new world at the moment

Jules I watched it yesterday - I must admit I thought of you when I saw the signs showing they were in Merthyr. Wasn't it brilliant? I love that programme and the people who are so generous with their time are so grateful for everything they are given. I always have a little tear when I watch it. I do hope that little girl got to Disney World and is on the mend

So sorry to hear that things are no better for your Nan - hopefully things will work out for the best for her and she will be looked after really well. I do hope it isn't too stressful for you all trying to sort everything out

See you soon

Tam

I'm sorry that it's come to this for your Nan. I'm hardly an expert but as I've just been through this recently with my Mum I'm happy to share my limited experiences if you want them :)

Sending you a big

I didn't see it either, it's so nice that the charity benefited from the programme

:hug:I'm so sorry to hear about your Nan. That news must've been a shock :grouphug:Sending you a big hug hun

I saw it. How lovely that you know them, the people were all so deserving. I was amazed at the cake lady - she spends so much time, effort & money for ingredients every day to raise money for charity. Such a saint. :goodvibes

Sorry to hear about your nan. Sending you lots of hugs, take care hun.

I saw this and spent most of the programme crying.
What a wonderful community you live in, everyone was so welcoming, kind, giving :goodvibes.

Sorry to hear about your Nan

I missed this this week , sorry to hear about your nan

it was a great programme Jules, I did think of you whilst I watched it. How lovely that you know the people in it!
sorry to hear about your nan but don't despair a lot of homes have really good programmes for dementia sufferers and she will get a social life again. At least you won't have to worry about her falling or being ill alone at home. I'm sure she'll be happy and settled soon enough.
don't be frightened of mental illness, she won't feel any suffering and they are trained to take care of her.

Im really gutted that I missed this, and hope they repeat it soon, Im glad to read that they portrayed Merthyr in a better light than they have in the past, I love living here and would never consider moving. Just looking for a repeat now :)

Missed this hon, wish I would have known about it:goodvibes

Sorry to hear about your nan, thinking of you xxx:hug::hug::hug:

Thanks for all your lovely thoughts about my nan, its very hard, I think I know its for the best, but I just dont know where to start with it all, if I am honest I also find it quite horrendous that she will probably lose the house where she spent such happy times with my grampa, its a dreadful thing, thank you all ...

i find that disgusting, its the only saving grace with John's nan and grandad ...they stayed in their house till the end ! im sure some of the proceeds of the sale will be lost to inheritence tax. You work all your life and for what :sad2:
