Yes I watched it!!
Well, in the end it turned out that the girl Hannah Taylor (lisa faulkner) had been kidnapped by the guy who is now her husband. She was lying to protect him by saying she had run away. He kidnapped her because he believed her mother the GP was negligent in the care of his mother who had cancer. He demanded a ransom, but didn't collect it, because he realised the error if his ways. He told her she was free to go - but she didn't go, and in the end they fell in love.
So what happened to the ransom money? Well it turns out that Dr Taylor was having an affair with the old copper who runs the kitchen business - and he copped off with the 20k to start the business.
Dr Taylor then changed her mind about suing them for misidentifying the dead girl as her daughter.
The dead girl was murdered by her stepfather - he eventually confessed to her murder.
