Did anyone see Jon and Kate +8 the other day?

It was the one where one of the little girls did her first poop on the potty and Kate decided to take a picture of her (I think it was Alexis?) sitting next to the potty with the poop still in there?! :scared1: How disgusting is that and why would she do that? Does she plan on showing the picture to family members or to Alexis when she gets older? I mean, that woman is totally wacked! I always thought she was strange but this really takes the cake! Anyone else agree?

I don't think so. As much as I cannot tolerate Kate for too long, I think what she did was great. Toilet training is very hard work, especially the pooping thing. And with six, I can't even imagine how much work that was (I did it six times but at different times!)She wanted to make a big deal out of it so Alexis feels like what she did was a big deal. It was geared to encourage her to do it again. I did it with my youngest so she would be proud of herself (I actually just pretended to take it). What is the big deal?

 We took a picture when my daughter finally went poo-poo on the potty. She, her daddy and I were beyond excited, so we wanted to make sure she knew what she did was a great thing. We are a constantly-picture-taking family, so she knows when the camera comes out that there is something to be happy about, celebrate, get excited about, etc.

No, we don't plan on showing the world, although, we showed my parents because they are a huge part of DD's life and we knew they would be just as excited and also make a big deal about it with her (which they did), No, I am sure we won't keep the picture forever and No, I don't think we are wacked.

Going poo-poo on the potty is a HUGE thing for a child and I know that I will always make sure that she knows how big of a deal it is and how proud we are of her, even if it means taking disgusting pictures.

Different strokes for different folks I guess. The big deal is that it's human waste and belongs in a flushed toilet, not in a picture frame. There are plenty of ways to praise the child but the way she did it was just gross. I've potty trained 2 myself and never in a million years did it occur to me to do what she did.

I love Jon & Kate plus 8 and I found what Kate did cute. You might not agree and that's fine. It inspired me to do the same to my youngest. I won't go around showing it to everyone but it's something that I'll look back on as another milestone my child made. You do realize that people have probably been doing that very same thing or worse for years. She's just the first to admit it on TV.

Love her or hate her ya gotta respect her; I think she does a wonderful job raising her beautiful kids.

I agree with Goofy'slady as my parents always said [b}Different Strokes for Different Folks[/b].
In todays world it takes everything you can come up with to try and get your children motivated to do things right so who's to say if what one does is ever right or wrong.
If it works it works right, and that can't ever be wrong!!!
imho

I wouldn't say it was wrong, and I know every parent has their own syle, but I do think it's gross. Now, when my son lost his first tooth, I took a picture of him holding a ziploc bag with the tooth but I wouldn't compare that to poop. I also kept my kids' hair in a small envelope from their first haircuts - again, a bit different than poop.

Did I think it was gross? Yes. But I don't think anyone should say anything negative about them unless they've walked a mile in their shoes, so to speak. I really can't imagine how she stays sane, with 8 kids so young, and they both really seem to appreciate all of the "magical moments" in their kids lives. I really love the show and appreciate how "down to earth" Jon & Kate are. If I were on tv, I would probably not act so natural. (I did make my husband come in the room to see the poop and Alexis photo, though! Not something I would do...).;)

It's a PHOTO. It's not like she kept the actual poop. Lighten up, people. :rotfl:

Actually, I don't think it is a bad idea. THe kids are so proud of their first poop- it's like any major milestone. That being said, i certainly wouldn't be showing it around or framing it!

Who's to say that she didn't just snap a picture on the digital camera and then show it to the dd and <delete> it? It doesn't ever have to get printed....maybe it was just a way of making her dd feel GREAT about a HUGE milestone.

Yes, I saw that one. I thought it was kind of gross but didn't think too much of it. Now, I love watching Jon and Kate Plus 8 and even though she would drive me crazy I always thought she was a good mom. Did you guys see the one where she took the kids to the Crayola Factory and she wouldn't let the kids play with markers, not even the bigger girls because she would "have to spend hours getting the stains out" What a jerk!! They make washable marker that comes right out. It seems she's more interested in making the kids look like little dolls than letting them have fun. I mean they were at the crayola factory. Did she not think they were going to get a little messy? Give me a break!!

My son wants to put in this :scared1:

OMG! I'm absolutely hysterical at this response! :lmao:

BTW, confession time -- I didn't take a picture of my daughter's poop, but I did save her bellybutton when it fell off! :scared1:

Well that's not too bad. I've heard of people keeping the placenta and burying it in their yard. Now that deserves a :scared1:

Man, I am beginning to think I am a freak :rotfl2:

Not only did I get a picture of my daughter's poop, but I ALSO saved her umbilical cord, too!
Although, that in itself was a milestone, considering it took her almost 3 weeks to lose her cord!

Oh, please, I don't think she is going to put in it a frame. Why does this bother you so much. Poop is poop. It happens.

Different families do different things. I am sure some of the things you do with your children are things Kate would frown upon.

I don't think she saved the poop. She just took a picture of it and threw it away.

I saved my daughter's umbilical cord.I put it in a bag. I still have it. It is all shriveled up and looks really bad. But it reminds me of the day she was born. Why is what Kate did such a big deal? You don't have to look at it and I don't think she is sharing it with others (after the tv show anyway).

It's just poop. And it's their own poop, not some random poop she's photographing. :confused3

Wish I had a picture of my first poopie on the potty. :thumbsup2

And I think us moms of boys should brace ourselves for the strong possibility that toilet humor is going to be HILARIOUS to our sons get to a certain age someday, if it's not already. I know a lot of kids love this book:

http://www.amazon.com/Everyone-Poop...bs_sr_2?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1206735960&sr=8-2

I will probably document my kid's first potty poopy in photos as well. It will be a glorious day. :rotfl:

We took a picture of DS's first poop in the potty. Good thing too - so far it's the ONLY potty poop.

And, probably way too TMI....but MAN it was HUGE! :rotfl:

I did not see this episode the other day, but I have seen it. I can't say I thought too much about it. Too each their own.

I do recall Kate saying she did this with the bigger girls and you know how that can be - once you do it with one or more kid it is a "tradition" and kids can hold to those like no tomorrow!
