Did anyone not like Soarin?

My mother hated it. She was terrified the whole time. She said she felt as though she was going to fall.

Are you my daughter? :goodvibes seriously, I can handle Rock N Rollercoaster, Mission space, Space mtn, etc.. but soarin scares me to death. first time I rode it, I held on for dear life, kept my eyes closed and prayed it would hurry up and be over. I didn't realise how afraid of heights I was until I rode Soarin. it must be because your feet are off the floor or something. and this is coming from someone who takes a plane to Orlando. :confused3

I also have to say I LOVE it!! I would like to see a different film but the ride it self is AWESOME.

I read many complaints before I rode Soarin' so was anticipating being just *ok* with the ride.
Got done riding and couldn't wait to go again. And again.
I could ride it all day long. :cool1:

The sensation/visuals are definitely different depending on where you sit but all areas seemed ok to me. We sat in the middle, along the sides, top and bottom.

Like another poster here I noticed the apparent lack of theming in the queue area too. Thought that was a little odd.

I rode Soarin with my family 3 weeks ago and every one of them loved it!
Their ages are DH,15,11,8,8 and 4-----I however am afraid of heights and boy did it hit me on this ride! We sat in the very first row as you walk in which made us the bottom after the ride went up. I caught sight of the floor at the beginning of the ride and that was it! Add to that the video of being way above ground and my head started swimming and my stomach started rolling!
I pushed myself as far back in my seat as I could and kept my head to the side for the bulk of the ride but I did look at the screen and "ooohhh" and "aaahhh" and "ooh look at that" because I had DD4 right next to me and I didn't want her to be afraid or think something was wrong
That being said I would ride it again but only if the kids wanted to go on it because I was ill the rest of the day and that was our day to fly back home.

Rode it for the first time last week and thought it was just beautiful. It will be a must-do from now on. :goodvibes

We liked it. But my husband said it isn't a ride he'd wait a long time for. It reminds him too much of an IMAX movie to be very special.

My family of 4 went on it last year. My DH and DD13 are dare devils. My DD10 is more like me and dont like anything too radical (RRC, SM. SM, etc). She loved it and I hated it the whole time I was on it. I had my eyes closed and head turned to the side. I felt like I was out of control, and that seems to be an issue with me. The scenery on the ride was beautiful............what I saw of it anyhow.........I just dont like the sense of falling and being out of control.

its ok, done it one time with peoples feet hanging in frount of me, if theres no line I would go on again but I wouldnt que for it

I don't DISlike it, but I don't see what all the fuss is about. I'm not a thrill rides person, but I find it bland. Unique concept, just bland execution.

The title of this post is "did anyone NOT like soarin'?" There are more posts here from people that like the ride.....not exactly the info the OP was looking for.

I do not like Soarin'. I rode it once, was on the bottom and got a real sense of height not from the seating but from the screen. Since I do not like heights, the ride was not for me. It's not exactly a simulator, you are sitting pretty close to a huge screen (I guess like an IMAX kind of thing). The movie is extremely hi-def and they blow wind and smell on you to add to the experience. So if someone afraid of heights were to ask me, I would tell them if they have a fear of heights this ride is not for you.

The entire time I had to tell myself "It's only a ride....It's only a ride...there's little kids on it....don't be such a stupid a$$" I did not feel dizzy afterward as it does not disorintate you because your seat does not move (like Star Tours).

I had to ride it to try it....I try everything once!

I am not a chicken when it comes to rides, I enjoy pretty much everything BUT...for whatever reason when those benches lifted into the air on Soarin I think my heart stopped. I was between my kids (7 and 9) and I grabbed their wrists and held on to them for dear life (their lives I was just sure). They both shouted "Cool!" and leaned forward to see how far we were in the air and I shouted "Lean back!!" No joke, the ride was half over before I forced myself to relax and let go of them. The others in our group (including my kids) loved it and got a fastpass to return later. I was secretly pleased when we did not make the return time. I know, what a dork.

I loved it. I loved how you really could be there, between the scents and the motions you really felt like you were in mountains or valleys, etc. And at the beach I could have sworn I could feel my feet getting wet it was so realistic. This is not an exageration, I really felt like my feet were wet! Did anyone else feel this or am I going totally insane? My grandmother agreed with me but I'm almost positive she was humoring me!

It was cool seeing California but I would love to see it changed in a year or so (or at least by my next time there! ;)) to over US or far better yet, the world!

It was ok. I think there was too much hype about it that it spoiled it for me. If i only knew it was a new ride and then rode it for myself without any opinions, I probably would have enjoyed it more. But my expectations sure were high after my step dad, who doesn't like anything, came back and said that was his fav ride. I just expected a whole lot more from it. I did like the ending though!!

If so why? I have never rode this ride but I hear that it is awesome from most of the posts I read on here... Now I would like to hear the other side...

I live near Tahoe and can't imagine this ride being that interesting since I have been to all of the places on the ride. Can we get some feedback from those on the left coast? :confused3

it was a fun ride... But nothing spectacular. Way overhyped. Not the best ride in Epcot (for me).

I thought it was a little anti-climactic. If we had actually had to wait in line, I'd have been very disappointed - thanks fastpass machine! It's not at the top of my list of things to do again - more like one of those attractions that if I'm walking by and the wait isn't too bad (good luck on that! Maybe in a few years) I'll go just because I can. I probably won't actively seek it out. I thought it fell way short of the hype.

The ride itself is quite nice. It's a smooth and relaxing experience. The only problem I had with it was the looooooooooooooong line. I didn't get a fastpass and did it the old fashioned way, by standing in line. This was at Christmastime, mind you. But lemme tell ya' the line was from here to who wouldn't have it. It's in an a/c building which will be nice in the summertime, but i would advise you to get a fastpass. I think we were standing in line for about 1 hour and 45 minutes. My mom and I had an argument while in line since we were both tired of standing and emotions were running high, etc. You know how it goes. Once we got off we had forgotten the argument, but still.

I loved it, but I just wanted to comment about the "Florida film" rumors...

I think that would be extremely BORING! There are no mountains in Florida, barely even hills. Just flat land, swamp, beaches, and metro areas. It would get old quick. Maybe a new film which showcased various areas of the US...but not just Florida. If that's really what they're planning, I think they are nuts!

I agree with you..... All over the US would be something that would be very interesting but when we drive through Florida to get to WDW we already see the Northern and Central part of Florida so that would not be a new experience...

My mother didn't care for it, but she hates heights. I wish I would have known that there was a place she could stand to watch the film and just not be "flying". She had her eyes closed most of the time.
