Did anyone get "stuck" after Charley?

Were you unable to get your flight home and have to stay an extra day? What did Disney do? Did they let you continue your reservation for a day at the same rate?

I leave for Orlando Thursday and if Frances continues on its path and at this speed, it looks like it could affect Orlando early Sunday AM. I am scheduled to leave Monday morning, very early, and am just wondering what will happen if I cant get my flight.

I know there are lots of variables of where this storm could go but right now, since it looks like we will still be going, I want to get my ducks in a row.

Hi

Due to Charley hitting in the evening, the parks closed at 1:00 on Friday. We were scheduled to fly out Sat morning. Obviously that didnt happen!! So, we called our airline and the next flight available was Sunday morning (which I dont think the airport was even open by then)- we needed to get home so we inquired about other airports. We found a flight out of Tampa Sat evening.

We rented a car and drove to Tampa along with all the other thousands that got evacuated heading home!:earseek:

Overall, I think Disney did a great job. We stayed at SOG and unfortunatly there were some families stuck in the lobby.

AK was closed I believe Fri and Sat-

Best wishes to you and try not to worry- you couldnt get stuck in a better place!!

I'm a travel agent and I had one couple "stuck" in Orlando and couldn't get home to Omaha during Charlie.
They were scheduled to fly home Friday night the 13th when Charlie actually came through Orlando. Earlier that day, I was able to confirm them on a flight home the next evening and Disney moved them from CBR to Pop for the extra night. He sung the praises of Disney, and how all the different CM's they encountered handled the situation.

I wouldn't be worried to be "stuck" at Disney during a hurricane, the airlines as well as Disney will do everything to help assist people in getting home if need be.

For all the local Florida residents sake, I sure hope Francis stays away.

We were "stuck" after Charley. We were scheduled to leave Friday night. That flight was cancelled and we rebooked for Saturday night. Well that flight got cancelled early Saturday morning. They told us first they could get us out on Tuesday and then Thursday. We then proceded to inquire about other airports. We, just as the previous poster did, ended up driving to Tampa and flew out of there Saturday night. We were initially staying at BWV on points and then moved to POP on an annual rate for Friday night.

My best advice is just be patient. Things can easily get very tense when you start to think about missing work time. Also be persistant. We tuely believe that the flight we took home to philly was added at the last minute. If we had not kept calling USAir we would have had to take the confirmed flight out of MCO on Thursday.

We did talk to a United representative, since the USAir desk was completly shut down. His best recommendation if you have to get home and don't mind being at the airport is to get the earliest confirmed flight and then standby for all other flights. Something will probably open up earlier.

Don't sweat it. Disney will take care of you. We didn't ever feel unsafe.
