We have a cat. 7 Navigators Verandah - have a chance to upgrade to cat. 6 with gty. Has anyone ever had the cat. 7 and was it okay?

We've had a navigator's verandah room twice. We love it! The bench seats two people and there is also a chair and a small table. The nautical touches make the verandah very quaint.

It looks as though our room is in a quiet section of the ship (aft - cabin 5638 on Wonder) - above the restaurant - Animators Palate - so I guess I should just keep what I have. - I am afraid if I change, I could be in a noisy section.

I love the navigators veranda rooms. Quiet, convenient to the deck 9 beverage station (just straight up the aft stairs), more private than the open verandas, and because I like to sleep in, you don't have as much bright light coming in the morning! We've had this type of room for 3 of our 5 cruises, and have a navigator veranda booked for the next two!

I really enjoy the navs too. We've only had one once, but we loved it. I like being after anyway, and the verandah is so nice and cozy. As an added benefit, if you have a smoker next door, it won't bother you nearly as much as if you have an open verandah.

The navigator verandah's are our favorites as well. We've had one on both the Magic and the Wonder. We've got one booked for our 10 day cruise and hopefully will be able to get one for the next Member Cruise. :D

We've had Deck 6 Cat 7s for our two cruises and loved them. I found the "cut out" on the balcony to be more than ample to see everything, and it was a very cozy and well-appointed space. It seemed more private than the regular verandahs and for less cost. We have a Cat 7 on Deck 7 booked for 2006.

My only issue (which was unrelated to the category itself) was our last cabin had connecting doors. I believe there are two sets of Cat 7s with connecting cabins on Deck 6. If you don't know your neighbors and are bothered by noise, make sure to book a non-connecting cabin. The noise was horrible - we could hear absolutely everything that went on next door.

Hello,

We had a Cat 7 on the Wonder in May of '02. The opening is about 5 feet wide, and was really more than large enough for a good view. I understand the opening on the Magic is slightly smaller, but I've never been on that ship. On our next cruise we originally booked a 7, but when we had to change the dates, we ended up with a 6. The 7 on the Wonder had a bench seat on one side, and also a temperature and barometer gauge on the wall, which was a nice touch.

Hope that helps,

Take care,

Bill

I guess I will keep the Cat. 7 - thanks everyone for the input but in checking - mine is an adjoining room - hope the noise is not that bad.

One of our times was in an adjoining and the neighbors were a little annoying. Oh wait...that's when we cruised with my in-laws. :D

We had a Cat 7 navigators on Deck 7 and next cruise on Deck 5. Love it! and we have had balcony and ocean view on other cruise ships. We have a 3 DD, so I feel a little safer, she was tall enough to see out and nothing went overboard!
Plus it's really quaint and private. I don't think we will ever go back to the balcony on future cruises. FYI our cruise planner said that the Navigator's are hard to get!

Last DCL Eastern we had a cat 4 and coming up we will be in a cat 7.. Can't wait:teeth:

We've never had a nav verandah but I am considering one. I was just afraid that it would be harder for the kids to see out so they might try pushing a chair over to look out. Then again it is probably better that way than with a regular verandah. I know the size is different on each ship but are they approx. the size of a porthole? We won't lose light that we would get with a porthole will we? I'm thinking it will technically give us more room in our room....

The ones on the magic are large round holes. The only disadvantage we had was only 2 of us could look out at the same time. The kids will not need to stand on chairs--the entrances come down low enough to for kids to see. We loved the Cat 7, and will go with it on future trips.
