Several days ago I received a tri-fold "postcard like" mailing from WDW. The mailing contained "a list of tips." At least that's what they called them in the mailing.

Now to the point of my post. On the 1st inside section of the mailing, just below Dan Cockerell's "Dan badge" they added a PS that I've not seen before.

"P.S. At the beginning of your stay, stop by our Intermission Food Court and purchase a refillable beverage mug. That way, you'll enjoy free soft drinks at our food court through the length of your stay."

I do not remember seeing anything similar to the statement in mailings in the past. Does anyone know when they started to include it in mailings?

I don't know when they started putting it in the mailings but at CBR it has been over a year that it has been on the mugs and posted in the food court.

It has always been posted at Mara's at AKL. I didn't notice it during our first stay at AKL but checked on our second stay because the CM that sold us the mugs during our first stay said they were good for return trips and at different Disney resorts. Again, often the CM's don't even know the rules.

Just another way to push the product. Most resorts have that type of notice posted somewhere anyway.
The Refillable Mug is an interesting topic....we use ones from past trips because the prices are beginning to get outrageous. Not sure DH would be pleased if we HAD to purchase the new ones each trip...so far, so good.

What do the Port Orleans mugs look like now? I have one from years ago... actually before the whole French Quarter/Riverside thing. I'm wondering whether I can get away with it on a trip this weekend.

DH and I stayed at CBR in January, 2001 and got refillable mugs for the food court. In fact the room had them, plus an explanation, and if you decided to use them it was added to your bill. We were also at AKL in October 2002 and did the same thing for Mara.

Most of the resorts have that horrible liquid, instant Nescafe coffee. If they are going to enforce the rules, I wish they would get good coffee or if they aren't going to enforce the rules, still get good coffee.

They have the tea concentrate, too. For a Southerner, that is like sacrilege! I wish they would brew fresh tea every day and let you add lemon and sugar to your liking. While a true born and bred Southerner, I take my tea plain, without sweetener or lemon so I can taste the tea. Just pour it over ice and I am happy.

BTW, if you ever get coffee that is bitter just add about 4-5 grains of salt...not too much or you will be sorry! and it will taste very smooth and mellow and not bitter at all. Works the same for tea, also. Learned that from my parents who learned that at a truck stop on a vacation trip from a fellow traveler. Must have got it from someone in the military.
