This was in my Ebay inbox. I have no clue what it is about.

URGENT - information about GBY Liquidations

Hi Ebayer,
We are a company in California that had a very bad business dealing with GBY liquidations, Gabriel Leoni, etc. are are trying to find a way to recoup our losses. I found your notice about them deep in a Google search on GBY. Please contact us ASAP - we are looking for proof of fraud to go to the DA, or other legal ways.

Hoping to hear from you very soon.

No- but i usually delete those kinds of e-mails- if i dont know who they are from or what they are about-- DELETE!

they may want info from you-- does your e-mail address look funny or is their e-mail address kind of the same as yours???

i was getting tons of spam and had to change my e-mail address- i kept getting all kinds of weird msgs in my e-mail but was weird was their e-mail was almost the same as mine.

i wouldnt answer them back.

but....any email from anything that has to do with ebay..if you are suspicious..open the email to reveal it's full headers..then forward it to spoof@ebay.com....if it's genuinely from them..you will receive a reply..if it's not..you won't!..same applies to paypal...forward with headers to spoof@paypal.com..you can also block the sender within your email program if you know how to work it's filters..good luck!

I should have prefaced this by saying I have been on Ebay since early 2000. I do get a spoof email once in awhile in my regular email account. This is the first time I have ever recieved anything odd in my EBAY inbox, the one where I actually have to log on to Ebay to view my messages.

It is definatly sent from a real Ebay account with many positive feedback, through Ebay's messaging system. I have no intention of responding to it. I was just curious if anyone else had recieved the same thing.

Considering a relative of mine, a rather high ranking MD law enforcement officer, was taken for 12k though a transaction, I could see how someone who was ripped off might contact others in an attempt to build a case.
