The Disney-MGM Studios will be closing at 6:00pm on September 4, 2004 for the Tom Joyner Family Reunion. There will be no Fantasmic! show or any special fireworks that evening.

Can't remember where I read it in the past few days but I know I saw it somewhere, that the Tom Joiner Family Reunion was cancelled.

I saw that this was cancelled several days ago on the news scroll on Central Florida news.

I didn't realize that the reunion or its cacncellation would have been national news!

They scrolled across all the local t.v. stations here in Orlando that the Tom Joyner reunion was cancelled. This was just many of the cancellations from Hurricane Frances.

For those that don't know this isn't a typical family reunion but includes over 800 families going to WDW. That's why it makes national news. Joyner is a host of the #1 urban nationally syndicated radio personality. Popular syndicated radio personality Tom Joyner invited families from across the country to join him and his radio "family" for three unforgettable days at WDW.

Last year they only had 600 families who went and still had 7,000 people there. That is one large group! This year they were expecting around 10,000 people for the event.

Isnt Tom Joyner some radio personality???? If my memory is correct he is an African American radio talk show person. I dont think this is a "family" reunion but is probably an "african american" type celebration. I dont know exactly how to phrase it. We have a large black university here and I am pretty sure he brought his radio show here last year for their annual homecoming celebration.

It's a family reunion, not just Tom Joyner's family.

It's not a black celebration, it's open to anyone that wants to take part. It's a fun, family focused event.

All weekend they have different artist performing. This year I believe Alicia Keys and Anita Baker were slated to perform.

It's a pretty big thing. I hope to attend in 2006.
