Did an auto insurance comprehensive claim make your rates go up?

Tonight I was on my way to my weekly golf class (indoors). It was dark & raining. Stopped at a stop sign, then made a right turn and BAM! A deer slams into the front of my truck (Chevy Silverado). pirate:

My golf class was right up the road, so I got there and parked and checked out the damage. Although it is dark, it doesn't seem as bad as I thought. It looks like he just clipped my bumper and dented it in on the passenger side. Unfortunately, now my tire rubs against it when I make right turns, so I have to get it fixed.

I have Nationwide insurance with a zero deductable comprehensive option. (I actually meant to change this to $500 last year, got a price difference from my agent, but never called back to go ahead with the change.)

So the question is - will making a comprehensive claim cost me more in the long run if they increase my rates or I lose my "claim free" discount?

Has anyone made a comprehensive claim against their auto policy, especially Nationwide? Did it have any effect on your rates or discounts?

We hit a deer right after we'd purchased a brand new van. Doesn't it always happen that way?

Anyway, the deductible is waived (or it is in my state with State Farm) when it involves a deer.

Our policy just went up in this state because of all the deer claims, but it still shouldn't affect not paying that deductible.

edit: OH and I see you're from PA too! I think they'll waive any deductible and it has no affect on your policy.
