Dick's Sporting Goods Rant

I just say, "No thank you, when a clerk asks for personal information..

But she wants to earn rewards with their program, so you do have to give them that info.

I can't even imagine having a family email address.

with amazon because the last thing you looked at often pops up on your home page. A few years ago the kids knew I kept looking at the wii 'cause it was all over when someone opened amazon. :( Today I was looking at phones and there are a about 15 displayed when I open my page.

Yes! I was just telling DH that I need to remember to log out of my amazon account before DDs use the laptop, because all the "recently reviewed" items (aka CHRISTMAS PRESENTS) pop up on the screen.

Be careful of any on-line shopping you do. They all tend to send email confirmations.

As for Dick's, I am annoyed because I took the time to respond to one of those last week, got my $10 off coupon and when I tried to use it, there are exclusions. One of which is Under Armour which is pretty much the main thing I buy at Dick's.

Did you try and use it on UA and they told you no? Or did you assume you couldn't because it was listed under exclusions? That's pretty much all I get with my coupons. They have never told me no. They just apply it.

I tried to use and was told no. I purchased 3 items, 2 were UA and one wasn't. The one that wasn't was about $14 and the 2 UA things were $40 each. The coupon said $10 off a $50 purchase and when she scanned the coupon, it didn't work. She looked and said it was because it's not good on UA.

Even better-

Last year, DH ordered ski passes from the local mountain- an adult pass for himself and a junior "learn to ski package" for DD, and those helpful people actually mailed it in December to the child, not the adult, even though both passess were in the same envelope.

So we get back to the house one bustling Saturday afternoon carrying groceries and other packages, DD gets the mail and starts flipping through it and sees something for her. Thankfully, she says "huh, Why would Mt Wachusett be sending me something?" that gets our attention so we basically rip it out of her hands and send her to her room. AARRRGGHH!

We also have had a house email account for years for things that we should both be able to see- school info, trip planning info, family related stuff, etc.

See that's the thing that upset me, this wasn't an online purchase. I purchased this in store. That's why I wasn't expecting this email. Especially this time of year. I have all my online shopping confirmations sent to my work email if its a gift. This was an in store purchase that's why I'm mad. It's because I checked out with my rewards card do they knew who I was when I paid.

Glad I kept reading because I initially couldn't understand why you were upset. I always receive emails containing purchase info, product review requests, etc. And we share an email account. I have to be quick on the draw to hide those emails as they come in (or I just tell him I did some Christmas shopping and not to check the email).

BUT...I too would be ticked if I purchased something IN STORE and then they sent me an email.

Bummer! :sad2:

Yup. I don't care for that either. Our family shares the computer and I don't want to have to erase the browsing history after each use.

we have a family email account -- I can't imagine having to forward or tell my DH about every single thing the school sends, our disney trip info, etc etc.

It would seem like a good thing for these stores to send those kinds of emails AFTER the holidays.............not to ruin surprises.

I hope you mentioned this to them (Dicks) Maybe they never thought of it.

They have no way of knowing if those items are meant for gifts, or for use now. Not everyone even celebrates Christmas.

There is a simple fix for this, go to your account page, scroll all the way down to Personalization, then go to browser settings, then click off your browsing history. It shouldn't do that anymore then. :thumbsup2

On the shared email account, I have a suggestion. In our house, I have my own email address, and DH has his own email address, and then we have a shared family email address that DH has programmed to forward to each of our private email accts. We use the shared email for things like school, trips, etc so that we can keep track of family matters and we each get a copy in our own inboxes.
