Dick Clark

My 16 year old DD ask why a man in such a condition was on television. Boy did my wife and I give her a lesson on what he did for television, music, and the youth of my age. Dick Clark has earned the right to be on that program, no matter what his condition.

I am so proud of him and others like him (like Christopher Reeves). It is really motivating to see people who have become ill and keep doing what they want and are positive about it.

I have read people complaining (on the net, not here) about how he was seconds behind the countdown. Who cares, that is of expected.

I think it's neat how they're kind of gradually passing the torch to Ryan. And I think Ryan is an absolutely perfect heir (I'm a fan). Saw an interview with Ryan, too, and he's really gracious about not stealing the show and acknoweleging that it's still Dick's show....as it should be. When the name of the show changes - THAT will be sad. I'm just happy that Dick is still all over it.

Really? The plan is to pass it to Ryan Seacrest? Okay, nothing against RS but does he really have the longevity of a Dick Clark? I think not.

Who knows.

We can't really judge his longevity for another, oh, 30 years or so. We'll see. Just IMO Ryan is a nice fit. Heck, for lack of anyone better if nothing else!

I really don't find it sad. I think its fantastic, and a true testimony to the character of the man. He's had a wonderful life, Dick Clark, and has been blessed in numerous ways. He's now been faced with obstacles that fame and fortune cannot buy him a way out of, and he's had to go on. He could have easily retired and given up, but he's fought hard. I admire him for it and think its really inspiring that he did his show last night.

The only thing that did make me sad is that when he does pass, his death will be one of those that will affect me greatly.

I also find him very inspiring. As a physical therapist, one of our jobs is to help people realize that there is life after a stroke. The body can repair some of the damage with hard work and therapy. Also, one must change their mindset (often difficult) and know that they are still vital, to their family and to the world. Dick Clark is proving this. He is MUCH better physically than last year, he was able to use his arm that was affected by the stoke. His speech was better, and of course he still has his courageous spirit. I think he is a great testimony to others who have gone through the same thing, and I applaud him so much for being a great role model. And I just loved that kiss between he and his wife.

I'm usually alseep by midnight but I was so happy to see Dick Clark last night..He looked so much better then last year ( I saw the newscast) It may be a long struggle but bless him he is making it! He even had his sense of humor! Here's to seeing him again in 2008, even stronger!

I understand when y'all say "sad".....but I think his recovery is terrific! I can only imagine how bad off he was after the stroke! He looked fantastic! I was sooo happy to see him. RS is big and all, but not someone I would think to pass this show on to.

Any suggestions?
