I am sitting here rolling diapers... Anyone else every made a diaper cake? The more time I spend rolling these, the more I realize how much I must love this friend

Mom does these for my sisters...my middle sister has a baby shower Fri, so I expect to see another! LOL!

I am having fun, just rolling and rolling and rolling is getting a bit tedious!

What do you use layers? I tried the 1-2-3-4 formula, but they don't seem to look right

I usually do 3 tiers.
Depends upon how many diapers I have. I have some smaller cakes and bigger cakes.
I have used all kinds of stuff (receiving blankets, bibs etc) to go round the layers, but think I like wide ribbon the best.
I put lots of different things on them too. Last one had ribbons, headbands, socks, toys (girl).
Next one is going to have wash clothes, toys, tylenol (tucked in the layers), socks, and a truck on the top.

I don't get it . Do you take disposable diapers out of the package and roll them up? Are they still in good shape to be used after all that?

The one my DW and I got for the birth of our twin DD's was made of size 3 disposable diapers. We finally took it apart yesterday, because our girls are getting so big I didn't want to waste the diapers by not using them.

Yes, and yes, they can be used. They aren't damaged...just rolled. I didn't find them to be any more or less effective after being rolled. It's just a cute way to give a useful gift, and then you can add other useful things (or just cute, if you prefer) to it. I usually add spoons, pacifiers, socks, travel shampoo, etc.

YES, I did 8 of them for my friends baby shower in June, they are SO MUCH WORK...our friends are lucky to have us

I really like the ones in the links where the diapers aren't rolled. Instead they're kind of placed into a ring with the ribbon around them. Less work and I honestly think it looks better. I've never made one, but I might for the next baby shower at work.

I used to make a LOT of these, love the results but it is a lot of work.

My co worker gave me an idea that she tried and I plan to do for another coworker who is expected: Diaper CUPcakes! I found these on a search. CUTE without too much work!!
