The Mitsubishi Heavy Industries status report includes the line, "MHI, after conducting and assessing the damages, will immediately commence restoration and continue construction of the vessel."
I assume that it will take some serious analysis by experts to define the scope of that restoration. But at least the status report
doesn't say, "MHI has already determined that the damage is so extensive that the current hull will be scrapped."
If the ship, is 60-70% damaged, then, presumably, it is 30-40% undamaged. Also, keep in mind that the report doesn't say"60-70% destroyed," just "60-70% damaged."
My guess is that extensive parts of the ship will need to be removed and restarted, but that they won't have to restart the whole construction project from scratch. But that's only a guess, and I could be wrong.
