what do I need to park in diamond parking lot at the parks? Just a AAA membership, or something more special?:yay:

It's worth asking for one. I went in local AAA last week for movie tickets and asked for Diamond Pass, she just handed me one!:thumbsup2

She did not put my name on the back, but I wrote my name on it so it matches my AAA card.

I purchased one on ebay for our December trip for about $5.00. Now the new year has started and they are over $50!

But, I will say....when I parked in the lot there were plenty of cars there without any type of special pass on them.

AAA parking permits are not for sale nor are they transferrable..per AAA. The 'special' parking areas are nice, but certainly not worth paying extra for. At this time, many AAA offices are dating the parking permits they hand out..some even have names on them. And you may very well be asked to show your AAA id when entering the parking lot. No, this isn't 100% of the time, but it is happening.

You follow the green line after going thru main entrance and there will be a CM there to check your pass. At AK & DHS there is always a CM at the end of green line to direct you where to park. At MK & Epcot I've had times when CM not there, but a sign directing you. I keep my pass with me, not in the window of the car. If you purchase a package they will make one for you with your name, etc., the one I have just got looks just like last years except 2010, and blackout dates are a little different.

Can I call AAA and ask about the pass or should I go in? We aren't booking a package (not sure when we will get their driving and it depends on the weather).

Better to go in and ask and get it if they give it to you. A person can tell you one thing on the phone but another may not give you the pass when you get in to the office and say the other person was wrong.

I wonder if the reason they cost so much more because they are now supposed to be dated and with a name and harder to come by.

I checked out ebay and I wonder if these passes "fell off the back of a truck" so to speak since they seem to be blank.

I just got a pass at my AAA on Sat. The pass is about the size of a check and there's a spot on the back to right your name in but doesn't list our specific dates or anything. We didn't purchase our trip through AAA but I did buy my Disney Hopper Passes and asked if I could get the parking pass.

Some AAA will give them without booking a package some won't. Ours unfortunately WON'T give you one unless you book thru them. Just letting you know so you aren't too upset if you can't get one.
It was helpful some days but not anything I'd worry about if I didn't have. We have parked just as close without it many times.

Every AAA is different. What an office here in NE does, can very well be the complete opposite of what an office in Kansas does. You have to contact your own office to find out what their policy is.
BUT...to the best of my knowledge, all offices hand out parking passes that state the pass in nontransferable and not for sale..period. Those found on eBay are not 'legal'...don't much care where they came from. I highly doubt that AAA is now selling their parking passes on eBay, and that would be the only way they would be legal when found on eBay!!!

Exactly the same one I got last week!

I think they are more expensive now because it is the beginning of the year. Last year I purchased them in November so they only had a month left. Actually, last year I purchased 4 off of ebay (for all members in our party with a car). One was a really bad color copy - but it worked. I really wondered if all the other's were just good copies - but they worked.

It is sad that these are potentially easy to reproduce and some people are making a killing on them. Last year there were a couple of sellers that had over 20 for sale - all the time!
