Has anyone been in the new Diamond Horseshoe Saloon Show? What possessed them to change it as much as they did? I am not usually opposed to change but when the day is hot and you want to sit in a place and get something to drink or eat, that is not the place! The only sitting is in the balcony and on the bottom floor, you learn to line dance with many of the characters and listen to some bad country singing. The fact that the characters come out is great. You really get to interact with them. However, I was very surprised to have to dance for my entertainment. It's not a saloon unless you can at least get something to drink. That's right folks, no drink or food. Again, I don't mind change but I would at least like the saloon to be a saloon, not a dance hall. Thanks for letting me rant.

I agree, we went Saturday. Unless you have children 6 or under, there's no real need to go. They were having a ball I have to admit, but it's not geared in any way towards adults too. As we walked out, my DH. DD (12), and I all said, We won't need to do that again!
I really loved the old show, it was for all ages, I really miss it. :(

The old DHR was loved by both adults and children (one of my 9yo daughter's favorite attractions).
We saw it on 7/4 and although Tasha had fun, when I asked her which she liked better the old DHR or the new Goofy Jamboree, she answered the DHR.
Having sat on the bench most of the show, I just enjoyed knowing at least my daughter was having fun...but not as much fun as she did with the old DHR.
And of course there go the special Halloween and Xmas shows there as well.

I have a bad feeling about this

On my last trip I went on the 7hour Back Stage Magic Tour.
One of the things that was brought up was what Disney has that no other park has.

The Disney characters. He had told us that Disney survays indicated that guests love the characters.

Ride sytems are copied from park to park in and out of Disney and Disney now buys "off the shelf rides." Like the RnR coster.

When you think about it, any park can copy the DHR show. In fact it most likely has been copied, somewhere.

I rember a time when you had to look hard to find Mickey Mouse anywhere in Epcot.
Today the characters are all over Epcot. The trend to add what only Disney can Do is simply continuing. Using Disney branded characers that no other place has.

Six Flags tries with Loony Toons, Knox has Snoopy (I think)
But it is not the same, not even close. When I go to a Six Flags I see a man in a Bugs Bunny costum. When I go to the Magic Kingdom, I see Mickey Mouse!

I agree that the characters are great and the parks needed more of them at one time. But when does a lot become enough? It almost seems like it's hard to turn around in MK now without tripping over characters, which is a good thing but I'm not sure that another attraction that includes them was really necessary.

If they were needed, why didn't Disney somehow incorporate characters into the old DH show? Why not keep at least some of the seating and the "bar" with drinks and ice cream? It just seems strange that this attraction, once geared to all ages or FAMILIES, is just for the youngest kids now.

As for characters at Six Flags, I haven't seen any at Six Flags over Texas in a long time. I really believe that with proper training and some creativity, the Looney Tunes characters could be very entertaining. This doesn't seem to interest Six Flags though.

I thought it was a bold move. we were there in late june, & they were having a soft opening. the interaction is great (except for the grownups who get in the way of the kids & try to get the characters to pose for pictures...(Hey adults...the place is for kids...)

"the place is for kids"

Sigh. I was hopeful for this, but it sounds like it is simply more cartnooinzation preschoolerizing the magic kingdom

I don't mind having the characters in the show. In fact, for the amount of people, the ratio was great. It's the type of show that I have a problem with. There is very little seating and as said earlier, the adults get in the way of the kids. Also, I liked it that you could go in and sit down and eat or drink during a show. Maybe I've been seeing too many movies but I thought in a saloon, you had tables to sit at and a show. I don't care that the show was changed, I just like the change that was made.

Still ranting.....

Several people have said- "hey it's for kids"....

well some of us go as adults with NO kids. It's not JUST for kids. It's for everyone, families included and that will of course include parents trying to capture the magic on film. Now how they do it can be a topic for debate but I am tired of being told I need to move or not go to rides or attractions because it's a "kid" thing.

Kids come in all sizes :)

I didn't mean adults weren't allowed, I was just saying it's so geared to kids, that unless you have one out there dancing that you are watching, it holds very little interest for adults. Disney has always been very good about combining shows that are enjoyable for the kids as well as the adults, but it doesn't seem like adults were considered whatsoever with the new show. It's a shame really, it was a great place to go in and cool off for a while and see a terrific show for the whole family.

That is true, I'm a big kid myself. I just have a problem when the adults mak a circle around the characters, hip checking the little ones out of the way & acting like jerks. We big folk can see over a 6 year old's head...we don't need to block them out.
