Ihave nver heard of this one before. Seems to be a buffet? Any info....

The Diamond Horseshoe used to be a wonderful place to eat a light lunch and see a delightful show.

NOW, Unless things have changed recently, its a eatery they open in high season. My DH and I ate there last December to reminisce a little.
We ate very cold and unappetizing turkey sandwiches that came straight from a cooler.

NOW, if they have turned this into a buffet or sit down WITH a SHOW, then by all means GO!! If it is still the icy cold food served as an afterthought...GO TO PECOS BILLS!

Yes, back when it was a light lunch (fresh sandwiches and potato chips) with live entertainment it was one of the most difficult reservations to get for lunch. That may seem unusual for just sandwiches, but the show was very popular and there were just so many seatings, kind of like Hoop-Dee-Doo.

I think more than anything the cut-backs in live entertainment all but did this popular eatery in. For awhile, they went from scheduled seating with specific shows to something more ongoing with first come, first admited with downgraded sandwiches. I guess more recently it has all but closed up. That's really a waste of a good location. I think a buffet would work well there, with or without entertainment, but I'm not about to hold my breath for anything decent.

We have reservations here for thanksgiving dinner. It is buffet. I would love the menu! Anyone?!

Diamond Horseshoe only opens when they need over-flow dining options (major holidays, for example, when the regular restaurants are fully booked)

For lunch they run it as a limited-menu cold food counter service...basically chips & sandwiches. For dinner, it is NOT a buffet...it's served family-style, and the meal is exactly the same dinner meal as Liberty Tree Tavern (which is where the food comes from--the Liberty Tree Tavern kitchen. The meal resembles a Thanksgiving dinner with turkey, ham, etc.)

"family-style" is a set menu, no choices: the server brings a bowl of salad to table,a basket of rolls, a bowl of mashed potatoes, a platter of meats, etc. You can request more on any part of the meal, but it is not a buffet line with multiple choices.

The show part has unfortunately been gone for years...it's a neat looking place & would be awesome to turn it back into a show venue. Even if they just did little 15 minute shows it'd be fun.

Editted to add menu: Tossed mixed Greens with Strawberry vinaigrette, dressing, Roasted Turkey Breast, Carved Beef and Pork Brisket (tastes & looks like ham) with Mashed Potatoes, seasonal vegetables (the seasonal vegetable was green beans last time we ate there), herb bread stuffing and Mac and cheese. Rolls & butter. Apple crisp with Ice cream for dessert (arrives in a big bowl with the ice cream on top)...that list is from wdwinfo, and matches my recollection of our meal.

From Disney's own website, it says "Diamond Horseshoe at Magic Kingdom theme park serves American classics in an all-you-care-to-eat, Western-themed restaurant located in Frontierland. Savory entrees like carved beef and smoked pork loin are paired with tasty sides like herb bread stuffing."

I would like LTT food for Dinner much more than the cold sandwiches at lunch. It is a neat looking place.

LTT food is ideal for Thanksgiving.

LTT is sponsored by Stouffers and you can tell, but it is satisfying comfort food.

Thanks everyone... I had never heard of this place and it popped up as available on my search for supper at the MK. I will pass though, not keen on another buffet

Do not know where the idea is coming from: It is NOT a buffet. It's all you care to eat food, served family style at your table by waiters. They bring the food to you (you don't stand in line and choose your food.) Just so you know...it is very much like a traditional Thanksgiving dinner. But NOT buffet.

This is the menu, they bring all of this food to your table: Tossed mixed Greens with Strawberry vinaigrette, Roasted Turkey Breast, Carved Beef and Pork Brisket with Mashed Potatoes, seasonal vegetables , herb bread stuffing and Mac and cheese. Rolls & butter. Apple crisp with Ice cream for dessert.

It is not a buffet. But it is not an a la carte restaurant either. The dinner is served family style and is the exact same menu as Liberty Tree. Apparently the servers are even dressed in Liberty Tree costumes. This is an overflow location used only when crowding is expected. There isn't a show any more.

Not any more. The new sponsor is Ocean Spray.

It should also be noted that Liberty Tree has switched its dessert to apple cranberry (big surprise, cranberry) cake...I bet Diamond Horseshoe will as well.

When they are open at lunch, they serve sandwiches.

Actually, your 2 best choices for Thanksgiving Dinner will be

LTT / Diamond Horseshoe (FAMILY STYLE)
or
Crystal Palace (BUFFET w/ Pooh)

I would choose LTT / Diamond Horseshoe!!

We had lunch at the Diamond Horseshoe on Saturday 10/15/2011. They were not cold sandwiches. It was carved right there in front of us. I ordered the kids Turkey sandwich (not a big lunch eater) and it came with chips and choice of two sides (I got two packs of the prepacked apple slices) and a drink. The turkey was warm and moist and delicious. I was expecting a cold cut sandwich and was pleasantly surprised.

:goodvibes

We just walked in to take a look and decided to eat there on a whim.

We sat up top, around the railing and the kids enjoyed overlooking the player piano while they ate and listening to the music (DD said it was the ghost piano).

I'm glad to hear that it was warm and yummy. We ate there last December, and the turkey must have been 35 degrees. Gross.
