We are on the ddp, Is there any restaurants that have desserts that are sugar free. My DH is a diabetic and I was hoping that there may be something for him for dessert at the restaurants that we are going to or to snack on when we are there.

Did you have the fact that you are diabetic noted on your adr's?

My mother is diabetic and every restaurant sent someone to talk to her about food choices. She usually opted to not have a dessert as she was full, but every place seemed to have something to offer.

Make sure it is noted on your reservation and even ask at check-in or with your wait person.

Disney is the BEST place for special food needs, they treat everyone like royalty!!!

No kidding! My father had raw onions listed as an allergy and everywhere we went they pulled out new cutlery and cutting boards...for him alone!

I agree with the PP's make sure it is notated that DH is a diabetic. Also, take some time before you leave to look at the menus. Almost every TS and CS has a no sugar ADDED dessert, sugar free is harder to find but available. But not all are good choices for diabetics. Many of the no added sugars are carb heavy. Depending on your DH's reactions to carbs, you may need to call ahead and arrange something off menu. My diagnosis is hypoglycemic I am strictly diet controlled. Disney is very good with advance notice to arrange a dessert DH can eat.

My dad is diabetic and I must say I was so impressed with how all the restaurants treated him. They didn't treat him any differently then us and all of the places we went offered some kind of fruit plate, sugar free dessert, or an alternative to regular dessert so he wouldn't feel left out.

We didn't put it on our reservations, we just informed each waitor when they were taking our order that he was diabetic and they would tell him what he could have. It made my dad feel great that while we were all sitting around eating our sugary chocolaty desserts he got to have his own dessert.

We were on the dining plan also.

I did not tell CM when I made our ADR's but I am goiing to call tomorrow and let them know.

I have a similar issue to diabetes, except I produce more insulin than I should. Somebody gave me a link to allears.net. There is some very useful info there. I would post the link but for some reason, I am not allowed to yet.
