Diabetes medication

Just looking for some advice. My little sister was diagnosed with diabetes yesterday and she is going to Florida in August with my parents and brother. Will they be able to take her medication on the flight and be ok going through security in Florida?

She will need a letter form her doctor the airline should be okay about it just contact them if you are unsure what to expect. Have a browse through the Disabilities thread for more info if you want to. Most Disney hotels will provide a fridge free of charge for medications if you let them know in advance of your needs. Not sure about the facilities for storing medication on the flights but someone will be able to tell you more.

They are staying in a villa so should have fridge/freezer.

I am diabetic and went to florida in 2004. You need a letter from your doctor saying what the medication is etc. and show this when you check in at the airport. I have flown to a few different places and not experienced any problems.

Have a look at her insulin. In the box will be a paper with storage instructions, for example, mine states that Keep in refridgerator (2oC to Minus 8oC) do not allow to freeze If taken out the fridge it can keep at a temperature of up to 25oC for up to 4 weeks, so fine for the flight in hand luggage. Cases can be in unheated holds, so do not put in your case or tell the airline.
