DI&S to Downtown Disney

I was wondering if someone could tell me how long the walk would be from desert inn and suites to downtown disney if you are not going through disneyland itself. If we wanted to go on an "off" disney day what could we expect the walk to be?

You can cross the street, go through security, cross the esplanade, and go into DTD. You don't need to go through the park to get there, ever. This would be the fastest route. No need to have a park ticket to do that.

You can still go through the Esplanade even if you don't have tickets. You would go through the bag check on the Harbor Blvd side, cross the Esplanade and then out the other side into Downtown Disney. The walk wouldn't be more than about 10-15 minutes, but may take you longer to get through bag check depending on the time of day.

Don't bring a bag and you'll usually get through faster too! I got from DI&S to RFC which is pretty much as far as DTD goes in about 12 minutes with 5 kids in tow and myself being the only adult. To the front of DTD was more like 8-10 minutes.

Also, coming back from DTD through security, they said they don't have to check merchandise bags (i.e. bags of stuff you purchased in DTD).

You can measure from place to place with the points and it will list the distance on the right side of the screen.

When I measured from DI&S to the fountain at the beginning of DTD by the World of Disney Store, it's 1778 feet.

My grandkids like this map to see how far it is from the hotel to different parts of the parks.

Thanks everyone! This is our first time to disneyland so i didnt know you could still go through the Esplanade even if your not entering disneyland, great to know!
