Hi! We are going in May and trying to figure out our FP plan... As much as I loved SDD, our priorities will definitely be the new rides in Galaxy's Edge and Mickey and Minnie's Runaway Railway. Can anyone help me with a plan? Between Smuggler's Run and Runaway Railway, which would you get a FP for and which would you rope drop?

Thanks!!!

I think it is kind of a personal preference and also will be up to what is available when you go in to plan your FP's
but i would probably do:
FPs MMRR, ToT and RnRC (or TSMM if that is more suited for you and your travelers).
I would rope drop Galaxy's edge and see your luck with smugglers, your boarding group for ROTR and hitting star tours.

Crowds will swarm GE so if you want a few rides with less wait then rope drop ToT and RnRc. You can get two runs on each..

FP MMRR, TSM and RnRc or Tot.

In January you could get on MFSR several times in last two hours. Park emptied from GE to front of park after 5-6. So if you go to GE to rope drop it will be a huge crowd and you will be waiting to get bough to MFSR while others are freely riding the areas up front. Work out well for us everyday.

I am going in May too and don't see rope drop being really anything other than misery for MFSR or MMRR. Ideally, I will fastpass MMRR, rope drop SDD or RnRC/ToT, and ride MFSR in the afternoon/evening. If I can't get FP for MMRR, I'll get it for MFSR, ride SDD at rope drop, and just give up on MMRR I guess. I'd rather wait and ride MMRR a couple years from now than try to rope drop it at this stage.

We’ll know so much by like March 10th. When is your 60 day window?

I am going in May as well and as of now and I have us there one day during the day and another at night. My plan is to try to get MMRR FP with ToT and RnR for my day there, then when I go back at night, attempt to ride MFSR because the lines are more manageable and then hop in line for SDD right before closing.
This all can and will probably change when I get to my booking window March 4th if MMRR isn’t available.

I'm also going in May, and wish I had more data regarding FP, lines, wait times, etc. There won't be much info before I have to pick FP.

Right now I'm leaning towards FP for MFSR and RD MMRR. This is because I'm going with a 4-year-old, so I think MMRR will be a better "warm up" ride for her, and we can work up to MFSR later. I also think MFSR will be less glitchy because it's been open since last fall, whereas MMRR will be newer and probably be more prone to going down throughout the day, potentially affecting FP line as well as SB.

It wasn't too long ago when a lot of us on these Boards were complaining that HS was only a 1/2 day park and there was not much to do. How things have changed in 3 or 4 years. We are also going in May, we'll probably do two mornings at HS and at least one evening. We still haven't decided on our FP plans, but I love the fact that there is now so many choices !

We currently have two DHS days (or at least parts of days) so I have a chance to grab two FPs. I'm thinking MMRR is definitely one, provided it's available. RD for that might be a mess for a while, though it does have high capacity so maybe it won't be as terrible as we're thinking. As for the other FP, I'm leaning towards SDD for now. MFSR seems to be better to ride standby (and has a nice queue from what I hear) though of course this is subject to change after 2/19 when it goes to FP. If standby wait times spike, I might change my tune.

Also, since so many people in this thread are going in May (as we are), come join us in the May thread to talk about all of our planning!

I agree Disney has done a good job adding attractions to the park. Of special note, there are finally rides for families to go on. When we went to WDW in 2016, we completely skipped HS because there was so little there for kids.

I think there is still some work to be done in terms of adding non-headliners to the park. Right now, a big part of the choice is based on popularity, scarcity, and wait times for only 4 rides (SWRotR, MFSR, SDD, and MMRR). I don't need two or three days at HS because there are so many things to do; I need more than one day at HS because it's so hard to get on the attractions there.

In terms of attractions, I also think AK has so few rides that it can be a one-day park. However, because of other things like the animal trails, it can also be 2-3 days at a slower pace if you talk to CMs about their home countries, watch the acrobats, etc. HS doesn't have that to the same degree (and, yes, I'm still salty about the cutbacks to the Citizens of Hollywood). I'd like to see HS step it up in terms of things for us to do while waiting for our FP window to come up.

May is when the cool kids go!

And I agree that FP has the potential to kill the reasonable waits for MFSR. I was really hoping either MFSR or MMRR would be standby-only for our trip. I just wish I were going a little later in May to be able to have more data on SB times, especially with MMRR in the mix, before making my FP.

This is a good point, and one I've been thinking about as well. They've done a good job of making DHS the place to be (maybe too good, judging by recent PPO photos) but it's very top heavy now. This is part of the reason we're planning on hopping this trip, because it behooves you to be there early (and in the case of ROTR, it's a necessity) and get multiple headliners as FP, but I don't really want to spend two or three full days there.

I’m planning on FP for MFSR (late morning/early afternoon), RnRC and TSMM. Rope drop MMRR and see what boarding group I get for RotR... I figure people will rush to GE - so rope dropping MMRR will be the easier of the two - if I can be near the tapstile, I may be able to ride quickly and then have the run of the rest of HS until my boarding group or MFSR fp ...

going in April, have similar plans for FP+. 2 days at DHS (1 full, 1 only half day maybe).

I'm going to make FP for two days. If DD doesn't like the first day, I'll cancel the second day and go back to another park she likes better. We don't have hoppers. Honestly, the only reason I'd need hoppers this trip is to deal with the insanity of the BG and the tier 1 madness at HS. Not worth paying for hoppers for the whole trip just for that. I realize this means I'll probably end up with two half days at HS, and two resort afternoons. This isn't actually a bad thing, though, seeing as we're there for 7 days, and I don't have a dedicated resort day planned.

I'm going in May as well! For those in May not in the discussion yet, join us at https://www.disboards.com/threads/y...arting-to-bloom.3733317/page-35#post-61523271.

Sorry for the shameless plug. Back to the topic at hand... I too have multiple days booked at HS. My second park day is our full day and I'm looking to RD MMRR while booking late afternoon FPs for SDD and TSM. Not sure what our 3rd FP will be, but might be Beauty and the Beast.

Our second HS day is our last day in the parks and will only be a half day. I'm dubbing this my Star Wars day. Gonna FP MFSR and Star Tours, get my kid in the Jedi training, go to launch bay to meet the characters, build a droid, eat a star wars snack or two, and hopefully ride RotR. I'll be trying first day as well as we don't want to miss it.

Right now, MFSR has low wait times at night, but it'll be interesting to see what role FPs play in to the wait times. We'll have to wait for Feb 19 for a glimpse, but guessing after Mar 4 will provide the most insight. Fortunately for me, I'll have close to 2 weeks to watch that play out. I know some don't get that luxury as their window opens before the 4th.

How olds your daughter? Mine loved the shows when we went to HS as a 4 year old. Toy Story Land also contains a lot of wonder and excitement. Both Jessie and Bo Peep are there as strong female role models. Woody and Buzz are also there, plus 2 big attractions in slinky dog dash and toy story mania. As long as either of those interest her at all, you'll have no problem filling up a day

She is four. I think we will fill a day no problem. Don’t know about two days. Also not sure what her tolerance will be for anything fast or scary - so SDD, ToT, and all of SW. I know AS2, TSMM, and MMRR will be hits. She will like the shows. I have no idea if she’ll be up for Jedi training or not. She loves her Rey costume and plays with her lightsaber all over the house, but can sometimes be very shy with strangers. We’ll see

Cool , my daughter loved the alien ride in tsl, so we did it twice! She was very disappointed we didn't get a slinky dog ride, but I feel confident with the new FP tiers I can definitely get us a ride this time.

But you're right, a second HS day will be hard to do if you can't do Star Wars things. Our second day, also half day, is scheduled for all things Star Wars while the first day will mainly be tsl, MMRR if possible, and as many shows as possible, lol. Though, I will attempt boarding passes both days. Never know what will happen and if park opens at 9, I'll only have 3 hours, and all the other star wars things, even with FPs for the rides, could fill those 3 hours easily.
