I know the Great Movie Ride shuts down to begin construction next month. With all of this new construction going on, would it be worth it to add a full day there or should I consider doing a park hopper to account for that? Thoughts?

It depends:

1) Have you EVER been there before?
If not .. then there is easily still a full day's of attractions and shows there (you probably won't be able to do them all just on the timing of some of the shows)

2) Do you have little kids?
If so .. there is a lot of cool kids attractions (Disney Junior) and Meet/Greets there now

3) Do you (or your family) like Star Wars
The park has a ton of non-ride Star Wars attractions - shows, fireworks, a "parade", Meet and Greets, stores, etc.

4) Do you have interest in seeing the night shows?
If so .. then a full day is fine there.

5) Were you planning on getting hoppers otherwise?
Getting hoppers JUST for DHS is probably not worth it in my opinion.

The only downside is that because of the severe lack of QUEUE attractions (rides), and the small "walking" space, the crowds and lines for those four rides will probably be long (but on the plus side, can Fast Pass three of them, so really no downside).

On my last trip to DHS I purposely spent a half day there, only because we had just been there 18 months earlier and my kids aren't big enough to ride two of the rides. The Star Wars stuff was new, so we spent time seeing/doing that and then left at lunch. But I already had hoppers banked into my tickets, so it wasn't any extra cost.

Well, it's not like there isn't still plenty to do there, but it depends. Do you like the shows Do you want to check out any of the nighttime spectaculars there? If not, then a half day is plenty. If so, you can easily spend a full day there doing the shows and all. When are you going? The Music of Pixar is there I think through the end of August, so that's an additional item. It really just depends on your tastes.

Personally, as someone who's seen those shows a lot, I might downgrade it to a half-day for now, but I always have hoppers anyway because I like to hop.

Well, no kids and first timer. Big Star Wars fan(one of the reasons I got into the entertainment industry is growing up with George Lucas films). However, I will be down there during Food & Wine. Not overly worried on the Toy Story stuff but probably would be able to get that done early in the day since I will be there early.

To me HS is a half day park, I'm done with the park by 1pm unless I am doing the Star Wars stuff. (Which I do) What my plan for this park is, go for RD then take afternoon break at the resort and go back for the Star Wars night time fireworks/show.

I was looking at hopping to Epcot for the afternoon, maybe take in the 5:00PM Eat To The Beat Concert, and then walk back for the fireworks.
