You could also walk to the Boardwalk and take a bus to DTD or take the boat to S/D (first stop) and take a bus to DTD.

A cab will run you about $12 + tip if you choose that route.

So there are no buses from the parks to DTD? We will have to go to a resort and then to DTD?

No direct. Too many people were parking at DTD and then taking a bus to the parks, thereby getting free parking. So they made it harder by only having transportation from DTD to resorts. Plus bus service from DTD to resorts doesn't start until after park opening.

Unfortunately NO - not anymore due to abuse. You now have to get to DTD from a resort. We usually go to DTD at night so it isn't an issue for us to go back to the room, freshen up and hit DTD. Occasionally the kids have wanted to leave a crowded park and hit DQ for a while - that's when you need to be creative.

I would go to POP and then transfer to DTD. The buses to/from POP do tend to be more frequent due to load factors.

Another option when using the Disney buses is taking the bus to Saratoga Springs, getting off at the Congress Park stop and using the walkway to Downtown Disney.

Have to agree with cranbiz....it would 'seem' to make more sense to walk to BW and then wait for the bus to DTD, but it would actually be faster to head to POP and then take their DTD bus.
Can't imagine why he might have good advice!!!

Thanks Dianne. :goodvibes

Just trying to help based upon 3 years of driving on property.

Definitely the easiest way!!It's like a 5-10 minute walk from the Congress bus stop.

Not necessarially, You have 3 stops in SSR before Congress Park and still have the 5-10 minute walk just to get to the Marketplace bus stops, which is where the SSR walking path takes you. Also while its not enforced yet, DVC operations frowns on using DVC resorts as transfer points as the members pay for bus service out of their maintenance assessment and non members or guests subtract from the available capacity for members. Before anyone jumps in about the shared buses at resorts like WL, BW, YC/BC the members assessment is a lot less for bus transportation at those resorts than at the dedicated resorts.

The POP route is one transfer. It's 5 minutes to POP and 12 minutes to Marketplace.

In fairness, it could be a 20 minute wait at both Studios and POP but not likely.

Before 4:30pm, the Studios to POP bus may also be your POP to DTD bus.

Well then what about the fact any WDW tickets say it includes full transportation use? Also would DVC ever frown upon when guests may use the Contemporary/Polynesian/Grand Floridian bus when going from Downtown Disney to the Magic Kingdom? The reason I say that is because technically all transportation for Bay Lake Tower guests is at the Contemporary, so how would DVC members dues and etc be effected because of that fact?

See the last sentance.

DVC resorts backcharge members for everything through yearly maintenance. A resort like the CR / BLT splits the common things like refuse and transportation between the resorts and then the DVC resort comes up with the yearly charge based on all costs, including their share of bus transportation.

So at SSR and OKW the membership pays the full cost of transportation while the combined resorts split that cost between the 2 resorts

No there is not.

Closest bus will be to walk to the Poly and get the DTD bus there.

Disney has always allowed anyone to use any of the buses, monorails, boats...as long as there aren't any extenuating circumstances. I can well imagine that there have been times, and will be again, when resort ID was needed to board a bus bound for that resort. Same with monorails and boats. It is always up to Disney to allow whomever they wish to use the transportation options, but they can also change the rules if they wish to.

Since the tickets currently say they include access to all forms of transportation wouldn't they need to change the wording on them and etc, if the Cast Members ever did ask to see KTTW cards and only letting resort guests use the transportation.
