Can anyone confirm if they still have the dance party at DHS with the Playhouse Disney characters? I read earlier in the year that they had this on evening EMH days and toddlers really love it? Any additional info about this would be greatly appreciated!!

Well, there is a dance party during EMH in the Playhouse Disney theater, but it is with Mickey, Minnie, Goofy and Pluto, not the Playhouse Disney characters. My daughter had a great time, but keep it mind it is VERY loud! Easily as loud as a dance club would be! You can hear the music down by Toy Story Mania.

Ill add that it was louder then the Dance Club by the Boardwalk. I don't know why they think kids are deaf. But it did look fun. I did not take my 2 year old as it was late at night.

Are there ever any other characters there? When we are there in October, EMH starts at 7:00, do you think they will continue it?

The Playhouse Disney Dance Party takes place in the Playhouse Disney Live! "soundstage" ONLY during Evening Extra Magic Hours at Hollywood Studios. It is GREAT fun.:)It is "geared" to pre-schoolers,but ALL Guests can have fun there. There are Cast Members on the stage leading Guests in dancing to songs ranging from YMCA to songs from High School Musical and Camp Rock.I don't think there is a "set" list of Characters that appear at each Party, but Characters such as Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse,JoJo and Goliath,Annie and Leo,etc. enter the Party and dance with Guests at different intervals. There are Balloon artists who make balloon "hats",etc. for Party Guests. At points during the Party bubbles fall from the ceiling and sometimes they will have "dance contests" between Parents with a small prize to the winner. The PDDP is the best-kept "secret" of any EEMH at WDW,so don't tell anyone!;):)

I completely agree with your comments. It's one of our favorite events. My DD loves to dance with the characters and the parents really do get into the program. I remember the Mom "air guitar contest". It was really fun.

We were there this May and it was still going on...Minnie, Goofy, Jojo, Annie and Quincy were all there. It reminded me of the dance party during the Pirates and Princesses Party, and it was lots of fun. The characters actually approached my kids, which is great - they were even trying to teach them some of the dances. Warning for shy parents, though - if you're near the characters when the DJ requests volunteers, they like to raise your hand for you to volunteer you - that's how Quincy got my husband roped into the Saturday Night Fever strutting contest! :rotfl2: He loved it, even though he'll deny it!

Does it go on the whole evening during EEMH or at a specific time? I've never heard of it before and it sounds like a lot of fun for the kids. :yay:

Thanks!

When we were there in May it was from 7-10 during EMH. I thought it was a little crowded and loud and dark. My girls had fun dancing around. It was hard for them to have character interaction though, because there were so many children and the characters couldn't really see them. Different characters come in and leave throughout the night. The ones we saw were Mickey, Minnie, Pluto, Goofy, Jojo and Goliath, and Annie and Quincey. We would definitely do it again!

I took my son (then, 18 months old) to this during EMH in March 2008 -- he absolutely loved it, then (I can only imagine his reaction when we return in September!).

For those not in the know, it's basically a dance party with music and lights in the Playhouse Disney Theatre at DHS (it was only running during EMH) which caters to small kids. It's a lot of fun, if you enjoy loud music and dance-floor style lighting.

As for the characters, all the "traditional" Disney characters were present (no Handy Manny, Little Einsteins, etc.). Lots of interaction can be found, here.
