Rumor

It seems if Star Wars does indeed go in the LMA area we will then see "phase 3" spread around the park with things like changes to little mermaid, Indiana jones, fantasmic, maybe RnRc, beauty and the beast and possibly more.

I don't know why every thinks attendance is going to drop at DHS? They've closed down a handful of underperforming or unpopular shows. People don't go to Studios to see LMA and less of them go there with the intent of seeing SOA. None of the marquee attractions or 3 main shows are closing down. Studios will be fine and 98% of the general public won't even be concerned about whats going on in the back side of the park. We do, because we live this stuff, reading about it everyday and wondering what's next!?!?! The general public just wants to get on TSMM, ToT, ST, RRC and see Fantasmic. I'd argue the nighttime firework show will help even out the odds over time as well.

Name something that's closed in the last 1.5 years that were top 5 worthy. I don't think the general public knows or cares until they get there and see the walls and then at that point, they're just wondering how long they have to wait for TSMM.

I don't know, I liked the feel of the park back there in that corner. I liked walking through streets of America and eating at the quick service. Star Wars weekends were hopping back there. The Osborne Lights were a draw. Plus those attractions always had people in them. They were there instead of somewhere else. It has lost a lot of the studio appeal.

I wish they could have kept it and truly expanded out to the parking Lot. It would have been nice to have more places for people to go. And I really enjoyed the Writers Stop. I think with the construction in place it will be too cramped. It was frustrating last summer when they shut down everything behind the stage for fireworks. I didn't like that at all.

If you look at what is closing. That looks like a nice healthy space for a Star Wars Land to me. That wouldn't need an expansion in to the parking lot.

I still think they will be able to create a corridor from star tours on that road to connect to the new Star Wars attraction in yellow. Plus there will be an entrance from Toy Story Land into SWL.

I finally figured out how they came up with the word "expansion" when they talked about these new lands! DHS just lost several acres of land overnight, right? Well, now when SW Land and TS Land open up, they can say "Look how much the park is EXPANDING!" Never mind that it's just going back to its original size.

A 14 acre repurpose for Star Wars.

what is going on with the space where American Idol experience used to be. I'm having a moment. Anything?

I think you're projecting. It was never going to stay at fever pitch, nothing does, even Star Wars.

The characters remain very popular, the merchandise is still selling and there's another movie on the way...

Ohh for sure, just wishful thinking on my part, but alas, I'll let it go.

Connecting Star Tours to the LMA area would be tricky no matter how they do it. Personally I don't think they are going to bother. I think it will continue to operate in isolation when SWL first opens and then it will eventually be re-themed to some other IP.

love google trends because you really get a sense for how big or not so big something is

That's pretty interesting - seeing that it waning, but not at all quickly.

One point - you only used The Force Awakens - if you layer on Star Wars instead it's much, much higher. I layered on Harry Potter as well. Not sure why that seems so low - but it's interesting to think by comparison what a full-fledged Star Wars land might just do for DHS. (I don't really care where they build it - I am with them, if it's built faster, put it in the back.)
