I put together a photo montage of our recent trip:

http://s180.photobucket.com/albums/x212/Yasmina27/?action=view&current=DisneyStory1.flv

When I showed it to him, he teared up.

Later on, he told me that he felt so bad that he was never financially able to take his boys (now 27 & 29) to Disney when they were kids. He had saved money for 3 years for a trip, and his ex gave all the money to her father for apartment rent.

I'm not the one to judge her reasons, but this to me is unconscienable. Just another reason she is now his ex.

We are in a much better financial situation than they were (I actually WORK - gasp!), so we are in a far better position to provide for our girls 9 & 11 than they were able to for their boys.

Please don't take this as a slam against stay-at-home moms. This lady was a slug. Perfectly capable of working, just chose not to, and didn't do a good job staying home. I could tell you horror stories, all verified by my stepsons and MIL. My older stepson refuses to even visit his mother, because she doesn't clean her apartment - what does she do?? She certainly doesn't work in or out of the home and has never remarried.

Why don't you guys take them now. That would be kind of fun. It always gets me when men cry. I think they're more emotional then we think. That just know how to hide it better.

Thanks for your response. I would love to take them, but DSS1 is now starting graduate school in electrical engineering (after being a high school drop-out!), and DDS2 got married in June and we are now expecting our first grandchild (Yikes - I'm too young :) )

Dh last night said after watching the video that he WILL take his grandchild to Disney!

The montage is beautiful! It looks like it was a wonderful trip.

Here's another vote to save up and take them all some day. That would be a trip worth a 1000 memories!! DH and I took my grandparents and mom a couple of years ago and I'll NEVER forget it.

ITA! That's what I would love to do someday!

BTW -- I really did like your photo montage. What software package do you use to do that? I would love to do one after our trip next month!

Thank you! I used Microsoft Digital Image Suite Anniverary Edition.

Some pics that were too dark to see originally, it adjusted to perfect view so we could see what was missing in the original picture. I hope that makes sense.

Got it at Best Buy a couple of months ago for $10 (original price $80, which leads me to believe they were coming out with another upgrade). But this suits me just fine, and I love the capabilities! I have edited and added frames to images I want printed and plan to copy to CD to have professionally made.

I would recommend this program to anyone!

That was a nice video. I especially liked the song you chose! Maybe we will try that program sometime.
I hope your whole family is able to go to WDW someday.

Great video!!!! I love it...Yes take your grandchild there! We just took ours. I have a step daughter and my hubby never had the chance to take her. Ugly battles with her mom. Like your situation she is now almost 21 and rarely sees her mother. We took our grandson in july, along with the other children.

 :cloud9: :thumbsup2

(lovely, was too choked up to say anything ;) )

It was beautiful.

Just wondering where you stayed the bed was beautiful the girls were sleeping in.

I think it is a great idea that you take the whole family some day we go with ours and it is the bomb. Our kids have so many memories of both our families. Spending time with Grand parents, aunts uncles, cousins and friends. So worth every dime we have spent.

I understand right now wouldn't work out taking the boys, but may i suggest an all guys trip? Even if it was just an extended weekend. I think it would be a really good time for them to bond even more. And DH would finally be able to say HE took his boys to WDW. :)

WOW! That was wonderful.
I work on a computer all day (I'm a secretary) but I would NEVER know how in the world to make something like that.
Is it difficult? :surfweb:

That's a great idea. I will suggest it, but I doubt the boys will be able to go right now, what with the older starting grad school, and the younger's wife now expecting. Plus they both work full-time.

But you never know :goodvibes

Thanks!

It was actually amazingly easy! A couple of months ago, I bought Microsoft Digital Suite for $10 (on sale from $80) for no reason other than it was on sale. It sat on my shelf until last week, when I had a lightbulb moment while I was looking at and wanting to edit some of our vacation pics.

Besides doing a great job editing pictures (it actually made some pics that were too dark to see and made them usable), it includes a program called Photo Story. All you have to do is drop the pictures in the order you want them, add music - either your own (which is what I did) or canned music they provide, and voila! A project to impress! Of course, you can tweak the effects to make it as artistic as you want. This video that I linked to was done with just the basics.

I highly recommend it. Believe me, I'm the original compuidiot. If I can do it, ANYONE can do it!

We stayed at POFQ. Loved it! We now prefer it over the deluxes we have stayed at (GF & BWI).

I am in favor a a large family trip as long as each individual group can go their own way, with plans to meet for meals, rides we all want to do together, etc. With our family, it would just create headaches and heartaches to try to force everyone to do everything together. I'm in awe of families who do, and believe that you must have the patience of all the saints!
