I'm the WDW fanatic in the family and it's no secret. DH bought into the DVC for me and then our young DS. But I've noticed with these last two trips, especially this last one 3 weeks ago, he's "transforming" into a WDW lover!!!

But, the ultimate surprise came lastnight while planning our next trip together. (I'm going in October with a pal but he and I will go together in the summer sometime. ) I asked if he had any preference as to when we go? I jokingly said "it sure would be nice if I could be there on my birthday in June" and he said "that sounds great"!!!!!!!!!!! I just looked at him with this big smile and said "that will be the ULTIMATE birthday for me".

Now, what do you think we can do that will be special? Maybe dinner at Victoria and Alberts?? Any special Cruises other than Illuminations?? Help me plan the best birthday ever!!! Of course I have time; it's not until next June. :rotfl:

My DH and I bought into DVC in April 1997. I pretty much had to get him there kicking and screaming.

It continues to amaze me, though, when I now hear him describing the benefits of DVC to other people, and "how it was one of the best things we ever did," and "how we could have never had the great vacations we've had over the last 10 years without DVC."

These things are all true, of course :), but I never thought he would have "come around" like he has!

Enjoy it - it's just going to get better and better!

My DH has had a very similar transformation. The first trip I booked with him years ago he cancellled and I took a friend. Then when I wanted to buy DVC he refused since he was in the timeshare business and we already owned a couple of weeks and could trade into Orlando whenever we wanted to (of course I only wanted to stay on property). Then when he realized how much money I was spending he finally agreed to buy DVC. Now he has come full cycle....just took his family in June, a total of 12 of us and he actually insisted on a touring plan for each day!!!And went on all the rides with the kids!!!Loves the dining plan (or should I say that in past tense!!) and really particpates in the whole WDW planning process!! For your birthday....I don't know all the info about this but the luxury boat out of the Grand Floridian marina can be booked with a private dinner. I have seen photos posted on the DIS of special events that families and couples have done...maybe you can do a search.....whatever you choose...have a fabulous time!!!

I already owned DVC when I got married in Feb 05, but for my birthday that year my husband gave me the best gift ever- 25 more DVC points at my beloved BWV. He hadn't been to Disney since 1982 prior to EPCOT opening. I have quickly changed that. Now he goes at least twice a year and looks forward to going!

DH once told me he didn't care how often I went to WDW, as long as he didn't have to go. Well, my solo travel began! :thumbsup2 After several trips, I looked at DVC, and it took me several years to convince DH that it would be the thing to do. He finally actually listened one day and agreed--it would be good for all my trips. :cloud9:

Foward to present time: he is a total convert! (The F&W helped convince him. Also, he spent most of his time enjoying the resort, reading, having a cold one. etc...) He now goes to the parks and even has an AP! He praises Disney and DVC any chance he gets. LOL

Isn't it amazing that our husbands are "magically" transformed into WDW lovers????? I've always said "there's magic at WDW"!!!

I've got time to check into something special for my b-day. I'm still in shock that he even mentioned it!!!:thumbsup2

How about Cirque? I just love that show! And maybe a day at the SSR spa?

I booked the Wishes cruise for my daughters and me last week. We all agreed it was one of our very favorite things ever at WDW. We were picked up at the Wilderness Lodge marina (we were staying there - you can specify which MK resort you want to be picked up from) and we "toured" all the resorts from the water, saw the Electrical Water pageant up close and personal, and then watched Wishes from our private boat with the music piped in. We also had soft drinks and bagged snacks like pretzels, etc. It was absolutely wonderful - a real splurge but worth it for a once in a while big treat!!!

We did this too, with another Dis family last year...I agree that it was the best!

That sounds wonderful!! I'll add this to the list.

Isn't it just great what DVC does to "Disney-tolerant" DHs? Your DH sounds just like mine was before DVC. And yet, after a few years of owning DVC, he actually went and bought an Annual Pass! We've kidded about that one so much-I never thought I'd see him with an AP. Wait til your DH comes home and asks if you have extra DVDs of DVC sales-it seems now my DH is actually trying to promote DVC and WDW to people he meets at work.
As far as an ultimate birthday, does your DH like Nascar? DH did Richard Petty Driving Experience and loved it. Also, we went to Beaches and Cream and he had his first Kitchen Sink. He really enjoyed that.
