We purchased DVC this past fall, and our first trip was to be Oct of 2011 with our girls. We had a re-sale contract and a bunch of points for 2009 that we weren't going to be able to use, so we decided to try to rent them. He and I would both lament about those points we were 'wasting' and how FAR away October was.

Sadly, we had to put my precious kitty to sleep unexpectedly yesterday. I was just a mess :sad1: DH asked if I wanted my anniversary present early. At first, I told him no as I was too sad to appreciate it. But, then I changed my mind. To make a very long story/beautiful presentation short, he has been planning since our DVC purchase was finalized and he and I leave in a WEEK!

He made arrangements for his mom to watch our girls, he got the okay from my bosses to take the time off of work, he got the plane tickets, he got ADRs for California Grill and Marakesh. What a guy!:lovestruc Happy 10 year anniversary to ME!!

Since it's marathon weekend, the only option was Saratoga Springs. But, who cares! It will be our first DVC trip. :woohoo::cheer2: The lack of planning is freaking me out: I don't know every little thing about SSR, I haven't poured over the menu at CG and Restarant Marakesh to know exactly what I want, etc. Ahhh!

But, THIS is DVC...heading down to Disney for a quick 4 day trip (only 2 in the parks)! It will be hard to take it 'easy' and not kill ourselves trying to do everything like we usuallydo. But, we will be back in 8 months with our girls for a longer trip.

I am still heartbroken over the loss of my kitty, but this has been such a blessing to keep my mind off of her being gone.

Okay, off to get about SSR :woohoo:

Aw, I'm sorry about your kitty. Happy Anniversary! Have a fabulous time!

You will enjoy SSR, DH and I really like Congress Park-short walk to downtown Disney. We will be there in 8 days (1/9--1/16) requested Congress Park but will be happy no matter where we get. SSR is our home resort but quite honestly I like all the DVC resorts. Have stayed at all except BLT and none I wouldn't stay at again. To me they all have their good and bad points about them. No doubt I have a favorite and a least favorite but again I would be happy to stay at any of them. It will be just DH and myself, kids are on their own-home alone-they should be ok besides they are old enough 32 and 30:lmao:!

Maybe we will see ya at a bus stop. If you see a couple of 50 somethings at a bus stop in Disney clothing or me in my Gators Tebow jersey say Hi cause it's probably us.

Enjoy your first trip Home!

Sorry about your kitty. I have one too and had to put one down about 3 years ago and know what you are going throuh.

Sorry for the loss of your pet. I know how hard that is.

DH and I did something similar this past October. We had purchased a resale contract in the spring that was loaded, so we took a trip with just the two of us. We used it to celebrate his 40th birthday and ran the F &W half marathon. We had so much fun together. It's very different without the kids and we enjoyed every minute of it. Have a great time!:cool1:

Sorry to hear about your pet, but I'm sure that you'll love the trip. As people who used to live in Minnesota and now live in Maine, we know how nice it is to get away for a week in the middle of winter. We find Maine balmy compared to Minnesota, so I'm sure that you'll love it!

Have a great trip. My family (of 5) also leaves in two weeks for our first trip as DVC members!

Have fun!

I too am sorry to hear about the loss of your kitty. What a thoughtful DH you have!! We just returned from our 35th anniversary trip and had our aniversary dinner there with our entire family, so special. iIf you DH didn't tell them it is your aniversary you may be able to surprise him!! I had made the dining reservation and told them it was our 35th....we were greeted with Mickey confetti on the table, so cool!! Our evening was topped off with champagne and their signature chocolate cake with an anniversary message.
Happy anniversary!!

So sorry to hear of the loss of your kitty... Hope you have a great time at WDW!

Thanks for all of the kind words! DH has attached the 'anniversary' celebration to both our resort stay and our ADRs. Mickey confetti is the best, so we're hoping to get at least a little bit :thumbsup2 We've done some research on SSR, and it sure looks like a pretty resort! We loved CSR, so I don't think the 'spread out-ness' will be an issue at all. We can't wait!

dvcssr1-I'll be on the look out for you :)

So sorry about your kitty...That was so nice of Hubby though! Happy Anniversary!

Who cares is right! SSR is my "7th Heaven"! Have fun...:cloud9:
