I booked a Standard Room for the Disneyland Hotel in September. I asked for the Dreams Tower after reading several posts regarding the renovation, and the first CM told me that no way, that Dreams Tower where for "view rooms only". That didn't make sense, so I called again (also after finding out that she messed with my reservation and my name and my kid's names weren't there :scared1:) and the CM noted down my request.
Now, I now requests are no guarantee, so my questions are:

Was the first CM right? Dreams Tower only for "view rooms"?
I'm checking in early, like 10-11am, would I have an opportunity to have a renovated room?
When will they finish? Maybe for September they'll have almost everything done??:cool2:

Another question: what kind of tips and how much should I expect? I was thinking $1 usd per bag for the bellboy, and $4-5 usd for night for mousekeeping? (we're 2 adults & 2 kids).
Thank you for your help!!

We've stayed in the Dreams Tower many times in a standard view room. So, no, she wasn't correct. The renovated rooms are on the DTD side of the building and I believe they go all the way down to the first floor. If that's the case, those first through third floor rooms are probably considered standard view. At least according to the CM that I spoke with a couple weeks ago. But it sounds like they all have their own version of things ;)

Your tipping sounds good. Sometimes we end up tipping more than $1 a bag if we have loads of things. And we always tip $5 for mousekeeping. Sometimes a bit more depending on the mess.

Have fun!

The first CM was incorrect. All towers have standard rooms. Checking in early MAY help - especially if you say you are willing to wait till later in the day for an available renovated room. And I had heard the Dreams tower should be completed before the summer - I know they have been working on the second half of the tower for a few months. It is even possible that by September, one half of another tower might be completed. The only date I have seen for the entire hotel being done is 2012 - no month mentioned.

As far as tipping I usually go a $1 plus $1 per room and the same for mousekeeping but 1+$1 per guest.

I would guess that as disney wraps up the current tower it will pause for the summer. The hotel will experience it's consistent flow of guests and won't want any rooms down that it could be renting. Then it will start the next tower in the Fall.

Just like with rehabs in the park, they don't shut down Indy or Splash in July.

Thanks everybody! It's a very good idea to wait for a renovated room, we'll certainly just leave the bags and hit the parks, so we can wait :cool1:
