So after some discussion of buying a small resale contract vs buying a pop-up camper, DH is willing to rent points this summer and see how we like it. :cheer2: We will probably be looking to rent a 2 br villa at OKW with my parents (who are also huge WDW people) in August.
We decided against buying the trailer this year because I think the boys are too young for camping and my littlest one is a runner. :upsidedow
Wish us luck!

WOOOOHOOOO, we rented before we bought, hope he likes it enough to buy!

hope it works for you and he falls in love with DVC.

remember try to get him to visit the other DVC resorts - some males like VWL more than OKW.

the new one AKV will be dark like VWL.

We bought in 05 and sold our Pop-up in 06.

One really had nothing to do with the other . It just got to the point it was costing as much to camp as staying in a hotel sometimes.

Good Luck we just love it

I'll keep my fingers crossed that your DH becomes like mine. He wasn't at all enthusiastic about DVC-he didn't even care about doing the tour. But he didn't mind if I did it (when I was going on a solo trip). He agreed to join (I think I caught him in a moment of weakness), but one stay at DVC/OKW and he was hooked! Hope it has that effect on your DH.

Congratulations! I read your previous threads and am glad to see you're making some progress with your DH. A 2 bedroom at OKW is a great way to show him the benefits of DVC. Have a great trip! :yay:

Renting points worked for us several years ago! Hope it works for your family too!!!

You're doing it the right way!:thumbsup2

We however made the mistake of buying our travel trailer first. Then about 5 months later I found out about DVC. Whoops, we already spent our wad on the trailer...BUMMER!:sad2:

Then we rented some points and stayed at SSR for the first time in January. We also toured the other DVC resorts (expect BWV because we ran out of time), and we fell in love with them. So now that DH is FINALLY on board with buying DVC, we have to sell our travel trailer first before buying. What a pain in the rear!:headache:

I sure hope we can sell it this spring. (Where's a little praying smilie? Well I guess some pixie dust will do.):tink:

After the cost of the camper, insurance, registration, gas, wear & tear on the tow vehicle and sites (also winterizing and sometimes storage) there is no savings.

Glad to hear you're trying a rental! You'll never think twice about camping again :rotfl:

We bought a trailer 3 years ago and we do enjoy it. I just bought DVC after we rented points last year. If I had to pick between the two...I would definately pick my DVC. I mentioned selling the trailer but DH is not ready to give up hangin out with nature...(or drinking beer by a fire):rotfl:

If you buy DVC...you are making the right decision. You can always put up a tent and camp for a weekend but you cannot just run off to DW!!

Enjoy your trip!

hey that sounds a great way to spend the expensive weekends - just go camping at FW.

Renting can get you hooked. I did and now own.
