Should he now, that he is on a LOW FAT diet, or wait a week or two to start it? Also, pointers PLEASE!;)

If he is currently eating low fat and high carbs just be warned that he could experience pretty major carb withdrawal. I felt flu like the first week or so --- it was awful, but I stuck it out and then felt better than ever!

The following are some of my favorite low carb links....

LowCarbIsEasy.com Website
A Beginners Guide to Low Carbing
"Taking off the Pounds" MSNBC.Com Article

Great site to order Low Carb Products

ENJOY!
:D

Yeah, my husband had BAD cravings and withdrawal symptoms (headaches) when he started with me months ago. He ended up quitting before induction was over. He recently started again (and is doing great! Yesterday was 2wks induction and he lost 12lbs!) and he's not having withdrawals/etc now- but I think that is probably because ever since he "quit" Atkins in March- he's been drinking more water, less soda and coffee (which might have been causing his headaches when he started Atkins the first time- he drank a LOT of soda and coffee before that!) and ofcourse with me being on Atkins- most of his meals were "low-carby" anyway. Sure he ate things I most certainly do not- but what I mean is it wasn't low-fat, super high carb like it was before- yanno?
If it was ME, I'd just go for it and expect to feel bad (possibly) with headaches/withdrawal/cravings for a bit- but he might want to work his way into it slowly.... cutting out some things from the get go (sugar/flour) and drinking more water (less soda, coffee, tea- if he drinks those) and then after a week or so go gungho on Atkins totally. :)

I had heard that being on a low cal diet could slow loss once you began Atkins. So I stopped dieting 2 weeks before I started induction. I had never heard about withdrawal being worse, but I didn't have any symptoms at all during induction. And I lost 9 pounds in 2 weeks!! He may want to try a couple of weeks off program.

Now DH (Bill) wants to know what are simple meals we can get WHEN we go out to eat at resteraunts? He will NOT stay on a DIET if it is Complicated. Is Atkins COMPLICATED? Also, those who have gone on Atkins and lost, are you still on it, and did you find it easy to do? Sorry for ALL the questions, but we want first hand testimonies.;) The Atkins book we have, just a little difficult to follow.;)

He may lose more slowly since he has been on low fat but why not go ahead and start.

My favorite meal is Outback. Steak, skewer of grilled shrimp (hold the remoulade) with drawn butter instead, grilled veggies and a salad hold the croutons with full fat dressing. YUM

We like to get fajitas without tortillas and guacamole and cheese instead of rice and beans.

Lobster tails with drawn butter
Shrimp scampi

Any kind of fish that hasn't been breaded or dredged with flour, but eat lots and lots of butter with it.

It's easy to eat controlled carb when you go out. You don't have to ask for a fat free dressing, who cares if you don't want croutons, or ask them not to bring the bread.

My husband has become so much healthier eating this way and he loves eating out :)

Welcome to you and your DH to the WISH! I don't have any suggestions other than what links Jody has given you, and other's ideas.

God bless you, best wishes, and encouragement, RaySharpton:)

My DH started induction Monday.
He ate everything he wanted all last week ;)

So far so good. He was starving Monday, but is better now.
He didn't even finish his dinner last night.
He's drinking lots of water!! LOTS! He's a big guy and I told him 1/2 his body weight. Helps him not to want his soda. ;)

His only complaint has been .....umm......constipation.
Hopefully that will lessen. He does have IBS.

But he insists on his sf jello everyday...is that bad?? Some one said it was okay, another said not to have it.

for the pointers!;) I don't know as yet WHAT I am going to do, as I do not think I can do ATKINS due to the fact that I cannot have Milk Products and most likely can not DO without my Sugar! However, DH is a Diabetic (pills no insulin) and would probably do great on this.;) I am really not losing a LOT on the diet I am on, so I am  .
