My DH is very sick. He is in tremendous pain and can barely move. He went to the Doc. who thinks it's Lyme Disease but the blood test won't come back til Monday. He's taking the anti biodic fot Lyme but so far it's not helping much. If it's not Lyme then he'll have to go through a series of tests.
We are scheduled to leave for Disney on Thurs. We have the free dining package and did get the insurance but if we need to cancel/reschedule will we lose $?
I keep joking with him and telling him we're going with or without him but I could never do that. Should I call Disney now or keep my fingers crossed and wait til the last minute? what are my options here?
Lynn :confused3

You know the anti-biotics take 24-48 hours to effect any change. I would wait a couple days to decide. If he is feeling better but not super mobile you can do the wheelchair thing and probably should.

If you bought the insurance, you will not lose money, you just won't have the benefit of the free dining next time you're able to reschedule.

We had to use the insurance last year when we were stuck at Disney during hurricaine Jeanne (I can think of worse places to be stuck) and the insurance company paid me money that I didn't even make a claim for. They went through all the travel docs and realized I had not made a claim for park tickets and paid me that too.

Hope he's well enough to go, but he will be miserable if he goes sick.

Ugh, I hope that a few days' makes a difference for him!! We are leaving on Wed, and DH ended up with an emergency appendectomy last Wed. Fortunately, it hadn't burst and they did it laparoscopically, so the Dr gave his approval to still go as long as he takes it easy.

As long as you have the travel insurance and the medical proof from your dr, you shouldn't lose anything at all. We didn't have travel insurance and were risking $100 (if cancelled by today, Sat) or $200 if cancel before arrival, plus would have a nice credit on SWA for our plane tickets.

Read your travel insurance policy to figure out exactly what you need to do time-wise, but I would give your DH a little bit of time to feel better. A few days' can make a big difference!

wait a couple of days until the meds kick in. if he's ok in a few days i'd say go. see if you can find out where the closest pharmacy is around there just incase you need more medicine and your doctor should be able to call it in for you(my doctor did this for me when i went to NYC) at that pharmacy. also always remember there's a hospital right around the corner in case anything major happens, and there's a first aid in every park and water park. he could also stay in the hotel for a day or two and just come out when you go to dinner or lunch...although it might be too much on your with it being just you and the kids. if not i'd say cancel and reschedule after his tests. good luck!

How is your dh doing now?

I hope everything works out for your family.

I had Lyme this summer and it is no fun at all. Lots of pain. The good news is, I started feeling much better after about three days of the antibiotics. The blood tests with Lyme are fairly useless so don't base your decision on waiting for that. Tell your husband to take it easy, try Advil along with the antibiotics, and know that this too shall pass.

Good luck to you both!

Well, we still havn't gotten the blood test results back but the antibiodtics seem to be working. He's very tired and achy but not in pain anymore. he's insisting that we're going so we're still on. We were just there last Sept. so I don't feel pressure to do/see everything. We'll just take our time and rest when needed. My 2 yr old will probbaly poop out early anyway so he can take her back to the room and my ds and I can keep going. My Dad is also coming with us and he's 55 going on 75 :teeth: so he'll have a scooter to share with DH and since he hates the heat, he'll be more than happy to take as many breaks as needed. I'm still excited and I hope this trip will be as great as our last one.
Thanks,
Lynn
3 more days to go!!!

:sad2: We are in Disney (well technically US) right now. My DS has a fever and Stomach pains (praying it is not appendicitis) Which hospital or doctor do we take him to if needed. Thanks
