DH is now gone for the week and I'm jealous

And lonely already.

Right now, he should be on the plane either waiting to pull away from the terminal or taxiing out to Hawaii for his week-long conference. I should have been going with him, a year ago we thought I would, but it didn't work out. So now I'm jealous and lonely. I hope he has a good conference, though.

I can relate. My husband was just away in Alaska, and I so wanted to be there with him.

Look at it this way - he's checking things out for you so that when you guys go back together you'll know what to do and where to stay.

When my DH came back he said "we're going to Alaska next summer!"

I usually become obsessed with a book while my DH is gone and read way more then I should (meaning avoid house work and laundry at all costs).

Dan -- "Enjoy" and "Houston" almost never go together for me.

Tamie -- the problem is, he probably won't remember exactly where he stayed once we are able to afford to both go. Details of trips and DH don't get along well. I probably remember my visit to Hawaii when I was in first grade better than DH will this conference. LOL!

At least I've got some work to keep me busy while he's gone, and lots of it is cross stitch.

I know that feeling quite well, Tammi. I'm lucky though, the last time Luis went anywhere it was DC and he didn't make any suggestions for me to go back any time soon (in-laws live there so I don't enjoy traveling there anymore)

I do hope this week goes by quickly for you. And when he calls you on the phone, ask him where he is and take notes That way when you can afford to go, you'll know where to go

Hang in there and stop in when you get lonely (or just because you want to)

He usually is, Tink. That's the only thing making me only "jealous" instead of "insanely jealous and depressed"

I know they're going to have a good time tomorrow, though -- they were planning Diamond Head, the waterfall (I forget its name), and possibly Pearl Harbour. They don't start setting up for the conference until either tomorrow evening or Sunday morning.

DW and I go through this every June (except this one ) when I go to a conference in Orlando. I won't deny that once the conference is out, there's a night or two of fun there. But imagine strolling out into the heat in a suit, and sitting all day listening to experts blathering while Epcot is less than a quarter mile away......

I thought the same until we moved to this area. I guess that the grass is always greener elsewhere but we always had so much more to do in the Houston area than we do now. Plus San Antone and Austin and the coast were nice and close by.

I was laid off 5 weeks ago and lurk/post on these boards every day in between interviews and errands. It's pretty fun, but I do kinda feel guilty - like it is really unproductive.
