Not sure if anyone would remember but a few weeks ago I posted that DH was applying for a new RN position. Well he was just offered the position! YAY!! Only thing is the big adjustment it is going to be because his shift will be 11-7. Right now he works 3-11 which is the worst! He is never here during the most important times- dinner, baths, bedtime etc. With the kids this is tough for all of us so although he will need to sleep during the day at least he will be with us at night! He also has been approachd by a 7-3 RN that might be interested in switching with him if he wants. He is going to give 11-7 a good try though because it is also quite a bit more money due to shift differential, charge nurse pay etc..
We are very excited so I thought I would share!

So happy for you!! I know you were counting on that!! :bounce:

Those overnight shifts work well for families. My brother works 3 - 12 hour shifts on the weekends & supports his family just fine. Although he is always tempted to work during the week through the Registry! (he's a Resp. Tech)

Congrats to your DH!!

Congrats to your DH!! Sounds like such a great shift that will allow more family together-time!

Thanks guys! I think this going to make a world of difference for us! Like a "family" again!

Thats great Kim! I am also an RN (haven't worked for 11 years, since my middle DS was born). I worked that shift and it was hard on me physically, but it may work out great for your DH. It really depends on if he is a night owl. Some people do it for many, many years and love it. Good luck to you and the new change of having him home to help! :D

of course I remember your thread a few wks ago

Congratulations! hope everything works out

Congratulations!!!!!!!!! I glad for you and your family. The 11-7 shift works wonderfuly. My DH works the 11-7 shift and it saves us tons on daycare. He's home in the day with our son (2months) and is able to take DD(5 ) to school and pick her up. Plus he is home in the evening when I most need him. Again congrats on the new job, I hope it's just what you guys need :p
