I wasn't home last night when the call came in. DH isn't too educated on DVC (he wrote the check and packs his bags and enjoys his stay......that's all)....anyways, he said the message was that:

Resorts Consulting International has taken over DVC and there will be a meeting on Wednesday Jan. 8 at 6 PM in Woburn MA to discuss this. The # is 800-613-4524.

anyone get a call like this!!! Or is this someone just trying to buy my DVC. I have gotten at least 4 calls from resale brokers over the past 2 weeks!!!

I am curious............I guess that said that everything will remain the same...................?@?#?!?#?!?#?!?#???

Anyone know what is going on????

DVC has not been taken over by another company! So many companies try to play on DVC's success and Disney's allure to suck people into their traps. There has been someone calling in our area with the hook of "We want you to come and be a part of Disney's 100 anniversary celebration"...and they have no ties with Disney at all. Disney will always be Disney and beware of falling into the trap of some of these calls.

I think it's a bogus call. How ironic that the meeting just happens to be in your area? I wouldn't go. Disney would definitely have contacted you themselves.

My father gets calls, my sister gets them, my other sister gets them, and they get them all the time, usually about selling their timeshare.

We bought five or six years before any of them. We have never gotten any kind of call ever.

I wonder how many of us do get calls.....thnks for the poll idea, it will be interesting.

that I recieved last night offered me a seven night stay in a threee bedroom at the "ON PROPERTY" westgate resort for $299. Use it anytime...What a bunch of lies. I told the caller I was a DVC member and was not interested. He acted like DVC? what's that? He then proceeded to ask me which properties in Disney were DVC. The Boardwalk? never heard of it! Ya right. Another lie...

If in doubt call member services - however I think its not true.

If in doubt call member services

even though DVC was not taken over, I would call member services anyways. give them what info you got about the company, so they can go after them.

If DVD is told of companies doing scams using thier names like this one, they can do soemthing about them. If DVD never hears about them, the unethical companies will continue and more will pop up.

IMHO

Interesting. Called that 800 number and got a recording that says "Resort Consultants International" is a division of "MMI" and then asks whether you want to speak to one of two persons (apparently there are only two that exist in the office). The only MMI I am aware of that is of any size (and for which you can find info) is an internet company that designs systems and provides consuting for internet businesses. It is not now and has never been in the timeshare business. Sounds like you may have been called by a fly by night timeshare business. DVC has not been taken over by another company.

I just had to say how your husband is just like mine when it comes to DVC (or any vacation)-"he wrote the check and packs his bags and enjoys his stay". What a perfect description!

It's a scam, don't go.

They called me 2 weeks ago and wanted to educate me on RCI points claiming that they were authorized by RCI and that if I didn't convert, I'd seriously limit my trade opportunities. (This is for another timeshare I own). I told them to nopt call me again.
I then posted a question on TUG about this outfit and found out they are a fee based reseller. They are just trying to part you from your cash. Stay away from outfits like this.....spruce

Thanks for the info. I really had no intention of going to this "meeting" and for that matter....selling my OKW points...like most DVCer's.........I WANT MORE!!!

I got a call to attend a meeting and they mentioned the RCI connection and I told them DVC has nothing to do with RCI and hung up

I would go to the meeting...and take the my states attorney me;)

To expand, there are several options this could take. It could be the RCI points option and they don't realize you don't own within RCI. More likely it's one of the vacation plans where they tell you how worthless timeshare are but how good their vacation club is. They might even offer to take your week of your hands and give you a slight discount.

rbuzzotta - when we attended a meeting with a DVC guide last week, we were told that DVC is the best thing for Disney right now - I can't quote her exactly but it led me to believe that Disney is glad they us members!
