For my 16th birthday, my DH and I picked up our "going steady" ring on Jeweler's Row in Center City Philadelphia, a pink star saffire, with little diamond chips on either side set in 14K gold.
That ring saw me threw many heartbreaks, hardships, job changes, moves, childbirth, happy times, sad times.
And I lost it in the spring.
I don't know how, but I think the band thinned out over all these years, I remember walking in the grocery store one day, and heard the sound of something hitting the floor, a very light sound, almost wasn't even sure if something did fall, but when I looked down, there wasn't anything there. That's when it must've fallen off my finger, but I didn't realize it.
Later on in the day, when I got home and removed my jewelry, I only took off 3 rings, but it should have been 4. I just thought maybe I didn't wear it today, and went about my normal routine.
The next day, it wasn't with my other rings.
And I was heartbroken after we turned the house upside down looking for this old friend of mine.
I checked the lost and found at the grocery store....nothing.
I accepted the fact that it was gone from my life.
Well, today is our 22nd wedding anniversary, and DH just gave me something. It's from a local jeweler, known for it's custom work and high quality.
I couldn't believe my eyes when I opened this little treasure like box!
IT WAS THE RING!!!!!
Not THE same ring, but as close as he could get.
He said he had a helluva time trying to find another pink star saffire. The jeweler pulled out a 20 year old cataloge and said he could order the stone and place it in one of his settings!
I'm just crying and crying!
*edited for typos because I hate them!*
