DH and I are so mismatched

Last night my DH and I had another conversation that makes me wonder how the heck we stay together because we are so different in so many areas. Our interests are often very divergent.

I was telling DH how excited I was to find out that the University of Missouri is doing a theater production of Much Ado About Nothing. I LOVE this play and I also LOVE the movie version done with Kenneth Branagh (spelling?), Denzel Washington, Emma Thompson, etc. I mentioned to DH that I would love it if we could go see the play and that I really should look into buying the DVD of the movie so I can watch it whenever I want.

When I mentioned the DVD this of course reminded him of the next DVD that he is dying to buy: Beastmaster!

Don't worry, it's not a Becka/DH thing, it's a man/woman thing. Perfectly normal. DH would rather watch T2 than any other movie I could choose, and we've been married for almost 12 yeears.

Yep. Us too. I love the theater, all things regarding musical-theater, and Shakespeare. I also like to see a good dramatic movie every once in awhile.

DH: Movies- If it's not a comedy - don't bother. Don't even think about asking him to go to a play or a musical. Shakespeare would put him over the edge.

I love him anyway, LOL! They do say that opposites attract after all.

DH and I have a lot of different interests as well, I think that's what keeps things interesting! How long have you been married?
It used to bother me that we were so different but we do have a lot of similar interests that we concentrate on....it isn't politics!

We like to vacation in Disney, Boating, Golfing, Dining, Remodeling the house......the list goes on, I won't bore you. As time goes on you will find more and more that you can enjoy together.

By the way he likes Aerosmith, I like the Boston Pops. I don't go to his concerts and he doesn't go to mine. But that's O.K.

We have been married for almost 6 years and together for almost 10 years so I have known this about him for many years.

I am not worried about it but it just seems so crazy that he is my best friend and the person I most love to spend time with and it seems at times that we have nothing in common except our DS!

I think that's what keep things interesting at times! See that Becka! Now he has you thinking about him and the two of you and how different you are, yet how similar you are and how much you love each other. That's a good thing.

That movie thing cracks me up. Did you just look at him like, "Huh?" or did you just smile and think about how funny things are sometimes?

OMG, my boyfriend OWNS the BeastMaster DVD!! What is it about that movie? That is such a riot!

I'm not sure if it's Tanya Roberts running around half naked, having a tiger for a pet or all that swordplay? Men and their little boyhood fantasies!!

My SO and I are about as different as any 2 people could be. He loves country music, I'd rather have my eyeballs plucked out of my head than to listen to that stuff. I love hard rock, he says it's too loud. I love to read, he thinks it's a punishment to have to read something. I tell everyone the only things we have in common are the same phone number, same address, same kids. And that's IT.

I hear ya! When Chris and I were watching "A Beautiful Mind" my husband was disapointed when we found out he was imagining all those things. He said "Ugh, it was just starting to get good". LOL I still laugh about it because if it isn't action & blood, it is boring.

I think you should get a bottle of wine, light some candles, and the two of you should snuggle up and watch Women's Bowling on ESPN2 this evening. .
