Got a Free Plus Dining code for a deluxe!

Currently booked at CSR with no pins/discounts. 7d, 6n, 10 day tix: $2500.

Offer is for WL with free plus dining. 10d, 9n, 10 day tix: $4600.

So that's 3 more nights at the resort and free dining (the plus plan is enough food for us. We should pay very little OOP besides tips) for all 10 days for just $2100. It's also an upgrade to a deluxe (and WL is where we wanted to go this time!), but DH says no way.

Who are you with??? Am I crazy for thinking it's worth it and we're going to come close to that by booking room only (value at ASMovies $500 for 3/nights) for the last 3 nights and eating OOP completely. Help a girl out!

How much would CSR cost if you added the DDP. That will give you better idea of how much more you are paying to stay at WL. The difference is probalbly not that much. You may have a better chance of convincing your Dh if you price it out that way.

You're comparing apples to oranges.

Your CSR reservation is for a week without dining.

Your WL reservation would be for 10 days with dining.

Figure out how much it would cost to stay at CSR for 10 days with dining (either OOP or with a DDP) and THEN compare. Or, conversely see how much it would cost to stay at each of the resorts for a week with dining.

Then you will have a realistic comparison when deciding which to go with.

I don't think I'd be willing to pony up an extra $2100 for 3 days, ALL ELSE being equal.

If I'm reading this correctly. Adding in 3 nights at POP brings the total to $3000 plus say $100 an day for food, so your at $4000. So for $600 you can not only "upgrade" to WL. I guess it depends how important the $600 is to you? CSR is great, I don't consider WL a major upgrade, however it is a major upgrade over 3 nights at POP.

Does it have to be 10 days at WL? Have you checked to see what it would cost for 7 days or does the PIN only apply for 10 days? (FYI, don't always believe what the mailing says. Sometimes the thing they mail you only specifies certain things, but it can be used for other dates, etc.)

Agree with others, you can't compare the costs since you are adding days to the trip to stay at WL. Price out the WL for the original timeframe that you were going and then compare the costs.

Besides the cost here is something else to factor in.

At Wilderness Lodge all their rooms, stores, restaurants and etc are located in one main building. So you would be an elevator ride away from everything.

At Coronado Springs they have a lot of various specifc buildings and you can end up very far away from their stores, restuarants and etc. So you could have a very long walk.

this exactly! it will be right around $3000 for the split stay (CSR+POP) without dining including park tickets. My Dh thinks we can do better than $100/day for food and I think he's raving mad. The $600 is totally worth it to me to be at WL (we're driving so transportation is not a concern) and not have to change resorts, PLUS have dining included. he does not agree. *sigh*

I will try to show him the apples to apples comparison!

You really need to run the numbers and compare apples to apples. What is the exact same trip at CSR and WL with dining? Often a standard discount will be worth more than the "free dining" discount when it comes to Deluxe resorts. How many people are going and how many are adults, children 10 and over and children under 9?

how many of in the party and how many are adults, also what is plus dining I have only heard of quick, dining and delux

For CSR 7d, 6n, 7 day park base tickets, plus dining= 3286.28
-there are no rooms available at ANY moderates for the free dining pin we have, so we'd have to go deluxe to get the free plus dining (which sort of negates the "free" part of dining)

For WL 7d, 6n, 7 day park base tickets, plus FREE dining with pin=3374.12

That's a difference of less than $88 to upgrade to WL.

My DH's point is that right now, we aren't planning on getting the plus dining, but I think it will save us a little money to have the dining plan. We've never done Disney without a dining plan and we will for sure at least be doing California Grill once, Crystal palace once, and Hollywood and Vine once.

now what to all the experts think???

In order to do better than $100 a day for food expense, you will have to be light eaters and eat only Quick Service. A decent Table Service meal on Disney property is going to run you at least $70-$80 for the two of you. It will be more if you want to eat at a place like Le Cellier. The thing I like about Free Dining is that you never need to be stressed about what to order. A $40 steak dinner is a credit just like a $15 pasta dish, if you want steak every night you don't need to worry about the cost. The good news is no matter which option you choose I'm sure you will have a great time!!:)

I agree with your husband. When I look at your numbers you have $1500 being added on if you go with free dining at WL. That's more than a 50% increase on the top of your vacation. My DH would say no as well.

What about travelling costs? Can you get 10 days off? Why 10 day tickets when you only have 7 nights booked? I'm confused about what you are trying to do.

2 adults, 2 kids (7 and 5). I mean dining. All the CMs keep calling it "plus" and it's throwing me off. :surfweb:

Those 3 TS meals will be $100 by themselves, your DH only wants to eat once those days to stay under $100 a day? :lmao:

I think the "plus" just means the MYW Package plus the Dining Plan. I'm sure that's not the Deluxe dining plan. I'm thinking it's the Basic Dining Plan.

You are not factoring the food cost. They aren't getting FD at CSR/POP. 10 days food at least $100 a day if not more.

all good questions! it really is confusing! LOL

We are going to be in florida for business until the 14th. Then we need to be back in florida for business on the 23rd. Instead of coming all the way back to texas in between we are going to spend the intervening days at Disney. :cloud9:

the reason why we are booked at CSR for 6 nights instead of the 9 we needed is because they have a convention coming in and have no availability for those last 3 nights. POR is the only moderate with availability for the whole stay and I don't like the idea of the double beds. I know that sounds very princess and the pea of me, but I seriously can't sleep if someone is touching me all night. it drives me bonkers. that's why we stuck with CSR and the plan to do the value for the last 3 nights room only.

but now I call and they tell me I can use a free dining pin for the whole stay at WL. sounds good to me! not to my DH! Does that make more sense?

It's "plus", as listed on Disney's page. 1 table, 1 quick, 1 snack and now refillable mug. It's the regular dining plan.

I say 10 days at WL, or more at POP and add dining.

to me its only worth it if it is cheeper than you are planning to spend now.

As it stands you will be spending $3000 for accom and tickets - that means that for food and snacks you would need to spend more than $1600 for this to be valueable in a monetory way. Do you spend more than $160 per day when you are at disney (not includding tips). I would look through some menus and work out what you are likely to spend if you were not on the plan.

I know that we would not have 2 coursed for lunch and diner and eat snacks if we were not on plan (we won't manage it on the plan :rotfl:). And for some lunch meals we would be likely to share meals so that we are not too full to enjoy our ard

Its not a deal if it makes you spend more than you had planed even if it is an upgrade
