DH thinks he can carry his water bottle around with him, refilling it throughout the day, AND carry it on the rides.

Does the water bottle need to be secured somehow on the rides? Either in a fanny pack, or with those little circle rings around the bottle neck attached to a clip on your belt loop?

I need to know the answer for the kids too - if everyone brings their own water bottle, I don't want to get stuck carrying them while on the rides and until they get thirsty again!

They dont *have* to be secured to you.....you can stick them between your legs or something. But it would probably come in handy to have one of those things where you wear them around your neck.

The more "vigorous" rides have net baskets under the seat or in front of you to secure items. Of course, you have to remember to retrieve your items afterwards...

A word of caution about the neck holders, as the day progresses those become extremely uncomfortable and unsuspecting parents generally wind up carrying everything again.

Try and use a backpack that has holders for the water bottles on its sides. We usually just bring 2 and share.

Sure he can -all the beverage stations sell water bottle holders that you can wear around your neck. He can refill at the water fountains but its not all that cold. Many of the rougher rides have a net basket in front of you and you can just carry or wear the water on others.

Many styles of fanny pack also have a water bottle compartment.

My dd's wear a water all day every day at the parks, no complaints. Most of the time they slip it over the shoulder like a handbag rather than around the neck like a necklace. We do a fresh water bottle every morning and refill as needed.

Be warned that some of the water at WDW tastes nasty, and as stated above, isn't very cold!

All of the counter service places will give you a cup of ice water free if you ask. Not sure if the water source is any different than the water fountains, but at least there is ice and it is cold. You can pour that into your water bottle.

I use a water bottle strap that is in two pieces and comes apart with a backpack clip. One half clips to my belt loop, the other half has a rubberband that snugs up around the water bottle lid rim.

I don't like things around my neck.

Another option is a widemouth nalgene bottle and hang that from his waist with a biner clip. It is easier to pour a cup of ice water into that.
