DH 40th birthday ideas

My DH's 40th is coming up..so i am thinking about some ways to celebrate...He is a very social, center of attention kind of person...so I am thinking of maybe a surprise party with family and friends...AND since he is a huge Elvis fan, I am looking into the possibility of hiring an Elvis impersonator to perform. This would be a really big expense, but I'd like to do something special since this is a memorable year. What do you think? Any other ideas? Sometimes the dreamer side of me tends to dream too big, so I am seeking advice. TIA

I spent my 40th at Universal with my family. My husband just turned 50 and we spent it in the Dominican Republic. A big party will run just as much as a vacation. But, if he would love a party do it! You can curb the expense and still have a great party.

For DH's 40th a friend of ours requested I gather a bunch of pictures of DH from baby to current, he then made a collage and had it made into a huge banner that was hung up at DH's work. We didn't have a party(for either of our 40th bdays) but he was certainly surprised by the banner!
